Job Description: POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARY: Every position contributes to the spiritual and social mission of The Salvation Army. The Foodbank Coordinator collects and processes food donations according to TSA and Foodbank Standards; and conducts hamper intakes, providing food support to those experiencing food insecurity. The incumbent will provide support in daily meal prep in the community kitchen. All tasks and responsibilities will be governed by TSA core values, specifically focusing on Stewardship Inspired by the generous love of Jesus, The Salvation Army in Williams Lake seeks to build relationships with our neighbours that empower and invites them to move towards hope and wholeness.
Responsibilities & Expectations: The incumbent is responsible for the following range of job duties characteristic, or typical of the job class:
Foodbank/Shareshelf Willingness to work within the mission, vision & values of The Salvation Army
Utilizing the Link2Feed software, exercising empathetic and professional care, assist individuals and families to obtain a food hamper.
Receive and respond to Foodbank phone calls and voicemails in a professional manner, guided by our Core Values.
Maintain high level of confidentiality and privacy while interacting with clients and volunteers.
Maintain records for LOOP and Second Harvest donations, inputting weights into databases, respectively.
Work with volunteers in a respectful and positive manner, ensuring Foodbank Standards are consistently maintained.
Communicate with supervisor, Community Ministries Director,



regarding inventory stock and potential purchase orders necessary for continuous operations.
Train and empower volunteers to maintain logs for repacking and recalled foods within Foodbank.
Maintain proper ‘First In, First Out’ procedure within Shareshelf program and perishable donations.
Monitor Shareshelf donations to glean resources for community kitchen feeding program.

Kitchen Operations Guided by Food Safe practices and SA policies, assist where needed in preparing daily meals.
Organize tasks according to priority, ensuring the continuous operation of the kitchen, washing dishes throughout the day.
Following Food Secure, Foodbank Accreditation, and TSA standards, record and track all necessary aspects of food handling i.e. hot food temperature logs, fridge/freezer temperature logs, cooling logs, etc.
Maintain a high level of cleanliness according to Interior Health inspection standards.
Process incoming perishable food donations according to Food Safe standards, utilizing resources in a way that will extend our resources.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

HEALTH & SAFETY: Work in compliance with OH&S; Act and Regulations and abide by TSA H&S; policies and procedures.
Report workplace hazards, dangers, injuries, illness, or close calls in a manner required by TSA.
Keep work areas clean and hazard free.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Normal working hours are 9-3:30 (30 min unpaid lunch) Monday to Friday. Work location is within Community and Family Services Foodbank and Commercial Kitchen. Minimal travel required for the position.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Qualifications and Certifications:




High school diploma or equivalent
Foodsafe 1 basic an asset
CPR, First Aid and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements Preference given to those with prior warehouse/non-profit experience
Skills and Capabilities: Excellent customer/donor service ethics including the ability to deal with the public in a friendly, non-judgmental manner
A proven ability to work in a team setting, as well as a willingness to take personal initiatives
Ability to stand for long periods of time
The ability to adapt to change and interruptions to a normal work routine, and work in a fast-paced environment
Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions
Ability to lift more than 30 pounds
Agreeable to a flexible, non-routine schedule
The ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability and willingness to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $20.09 to $25.11 with a maximum of $30.13. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
