Role

Reporting directly to the Chiefmercial Officer, the Controller owns the day-to-day accounting operations of the business and keeps our financial reporting accurate, timely, and year-end ready.

This is a hands-on role for someone who likes to get into the detail: youll run the full accounting cycle, lead a small accounting team, partner closely with our leadership team and external accountants, and help us maintain a disciplined and reliable financial foundation as the business continues to evolve.

Key Responsibilities: Lead, develop, and grow a collaborative, positive, and performance-driven accounting team by setting priorities, reviewing work, and coaching team members as they take on more.

Own the full accounting cycle accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, and job/cost accounting.

Oversee project accounting, including WIP reporting, job-cost analysis, holdbacks, progress billings, revenue recognition and project profitability reporting.

Lead a clean, well-documented month-end close and prepare accurate, timely monthly financial statements and management reports, keeping the books year-end ready.

Prepare and file monthly HST, and coordinate year-end working papers and corporate tax filings with our external accountants.

Maintain and strengthen documented accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguardpany assets, ensure transactions are recorded accurately and on time, and support appropriate cross-training across the accounting team.

Lead the annual budgeting process, maintain rolling cash-flow and financial forecasts, monitor performance against plan, andmunicate material variances and emerging risks to ownership.

Oversee the financial accuracy and reconciliation of payroll, partnering with HR on employee information,



perks, and payroll administration.

Provide financial oversight and analysis relating to corporate insurance and fleet expenditures.

Provide practical, clear financial analysis to support ownership in evaluating project performance, pricing, purchasing and other business decisions.

Lead the finance workstream for the implementation and ongoing optimization of Premier, partnering with Operations and other stakeholders to strengthen reporting, controls, and adoption.

Take on additional accounting duties as the business needs them.

You are perfect for this role because you have: 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience in general contracting or construction management and prior responsibility for full-cycle accounting, month-end close, and project accounting.

Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance. A CPA designation is strongly preferred.

Candidates without a designation may be considered where they bring substantial hands-on Controller level experience in the construction industry Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and reviewing the work of accounting staff.

Strong Excel skills andfort across the Microsoft Office suite.

Experience with construction or accounting software such as Premier, Procore, Jonas, CMiC, or Sage is an asset. A clearmunicator who can translate financial information into practical business insights for ownership and operational leaders.

Highly organized, detail-oriented, and calm under deadlines. A self-starter with a collaborative, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude who thrives on a small, high-energy team.
