The Department of Justice and Public Safety requires the services of an Executive Secretary in the Court of King's Bench, Office of the Chief Justice, located in Moncton.
What you will do
Reporting to the Executive Director of Court Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for:
- administrative support to the Chief Justice of the Court of King's Bench of New Brunswick and judiciary,
- managing complaints received,
- assisting in the coordination of assignments for judges of the Court of King's Bench,
- preparing a variety of documents and reports,
- drafting correspondence; replying to correspondence and requests for information,
- maintaining the schedule of the Chief Justice,
- coordinating meeting and travel arrangements,
- verifying and coding expense accounts,
- logging and tracking various expenses; data entry,
- tracking leave requests,
- other related duties that may be assigned.

You excel at managing complex schedules, coordinating confidential communications, and handling sensitive information with integrity and professionalism. You demonstrate strong interpersonal skills while working effectively with judges, court staff, legal professionals, and the public. The ability to adapt quickly, use good judgement, multi-task, and work well under pressure is required for this position. Your professionalism, sound decision-making,
and commitment to excellence help ensure the efficient operation of the Office of the Chief Justice.
Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:
Need to have:
- High school diploma or GED;
- University degree or successful completion of minimum (1) year post-secondary education in a related field; and
- Minimum of 5 years related work experience
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required. Please state your language capability.

Operational Requirements: The following operational requirement is also required:
- Working past the normal work hours on occasion.
Nice to Have (their asset qualifications)
- Understanding of the Justice system in New Brunswick, particularly as it relates to the Court of King's Bench
- Experience working with confidential and/or legal documents
- At least one (1) year of administrative experience within a legal environment.
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.

Wage
$1,894.00 to $2,644.00 Biweekly based on education and experience
Work environment
- Office location: Moncton Law Court, 145 Assomption Blvd., Moncton, NB
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30
