ROLE The Registered Technologist - X-Ray and BMD is responsible for the secure, effective and efficient performance of a variety of procedures in the areas of X-Ray and BMD. The MRT will use independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative in the application of ionizing radiation. He/she will work together with the Senior Technologist, Interventional Radiology and Student Coordinator regarding supervision and evaluation of student technologists.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S) Graduate of an accredited Radiological Technology program required
Current registration in valuable standing with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario required
Current CPR certification required
CBMD certification / ADT accreditation or equivalent preferred, with willingness to acquire required
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S) Maintaining an effective working relationship with patients, physicians, hospital staff and the public
Demonstrated commitment to his/her ongoing professional development and continuing education (i.e., awareness of one’s own personal/professional education needs, and self-initiation of actions to meet those needs)
Demonstrated ability to act quickly and effectively when dealing with emergencies with patients and staff




Able to exercise courtesy and understanding in dealing with patients, medical personnel, visitors, and staff members of other departments
Able to recognize and react appropriately, both mentally and physically, to emergent/critical situations, incidents and adverse reactions. This would encompass following Hospital/Departmental policies & procedures, maintaining a calm and professional composure and assuming a leadership role when required to support staff
Able to react to unpredictable situations with critically/acutely ill patients having physical limitations, to ensure patient safety
Quality Control processes for all equipment related to X-Ray and BMD
Knowledge of all equipment and auxiliary products used in X-Ray and BMD
DESIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE(S) & EDUCATION Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists or Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences preferred
Previous experience in General Radiography and BMD preferred
