Join Our Team as a Mechanical Designer Lead at Epiroc!

Responsible for the researching, designing, developing, testing and commissioning various Mechanical systems developed at EES Vancouver. This position requires strong communication, technical and leadership skills along with the ability to collaborate with and bring together teams and people with others internally and externally.

Responsibilities:

Be the principal designer of the mechanical systems associated with their project(s)

Responsible for the function and safety of the mechanical systems associated with their project(s)





Coordinate with other members of a multi-disciplinary team

Collaborate with global teams on projects

Assist in the development of the scope of assigned projects

Oversee any other mechanical design work done as part of assignedprojects

Critically review mechanical system designs across the organisation with a focus on those done at EES Vancouver

Effectively communicate and collaborate with EES

Engineers/Managers, various people across the Epiroc Organisation,

Customers and other stakeholders to achieve project goals and ensure complete system integration

Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project outcomes

Prepare and review technical documentation:

Part drawings, FEA reports, Various types of design reports,FMEA Analysis’, ISO, CSA and other industry standards, etc

Identify opportunities for process and design improvement/optimization

Review job candidate resumes, test results and attend their interviews where needed

Plan for and execute testing and commissioning of the systems created as part of assigned projects

Oversee the integration of various systems, ensuring compatibility, efficiency, safety and reliability across the entire system

Creating and maintaining assigned project's CAD and PLM data

Overseeing and reviewing the creation of technical drawings and reports

Knowledge/Education:

Bachelor’s degree or greater in an applicable engineering discipline

5+ years of related industry experience

PEng license

In-depth (industry-leading) knowledge in one or more system types such as hydraulic, controls, batteries, thermal management, power electronics etc

Cross-domain engineering skills and product prototyping knowledge, including electronic hardware design, software development, EMC compliance, and functional testing

Subject matter expert (SME) on current and future BEV/automotive standards (OEM specific, SAE, ISO, etc)

Experience with functional safety application design and development under IEC EN 61508

Good understanding of hardware and software systems simulations using tools such as MATLAB and Simulink

Proficient in project management software, tools and techniques

Skills and Abilities:

Friendly disposition. Work well with people of various backgrounds, skillsets, demeanors, and positions

An ability and desire to push the boundaries of themselves

Ability to perform general assembly, fabrication and manufacturing

Wage/salary for position: $95,912.00 - $126,870.00
