As a Fire Alarm Service Technician , you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and protection of properties and lives. Your primary responsibility will be to inspect, test, troubleshoot, andmaintainfire alarm systems, ensuring they are fully operational and compliant with all safety standards. You will also serve as a key point of contact for clients,providingexpert advice on fire safety.

A minimum of 40 hour week, primarily between Monday and Friday (except when on-call, or work on special projects)

What You Bring

JourneypersonElectrician with CFAA license, or working towards CFAA license; or

Technician withCFAA license, or working towards CFAA license

Certification in applicable field. This may include one or several of the following: Fire Alarm Systems, Emergency Lighting, Monitoring





A valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract isrequiredtooperatea company vehicle

What You’ll Do
Technicians must be able to perform the followingduring the course oftheir employment:

Conduct inspections on Fire Alarm and related systems.Performing inspections completely and effectively with other technicians. This includes various fire alarm systems, emergency lighting, and monitoring. Ensure all systems are in operation at end of shift.

Travelin and around Edmonton, occasionallyacross Alberta.Although most of Sterling's work is in and around Edmonton, you will be asked to travel around the province completinginspectionsfrom time to time.

Repair systems and perform maintenance.Repair all types of systems (as described above) asrequiredto ensure operability. Perform maintenance to conform with codes and tomaintainpeak performance of systems.

Prepare reports for completed inspections, repairs, or maintenance.Complete reports in an organized,timelymanner. Reports should be completedonsitewhen possible, requestadditionaltime when necessary.

Complete scheduled appointments and provideappropriate comments.Use scheduling software to complete appointments and ensure comments/deficiencies are complete and concise for use by other members of the team.

Utilize scheduling software as directed by management.Ensure scheduling software is filled out completely and correctly for use by other members of the team.

Complete timecard submissions.Completeaccuratetimecard entries throughout the day andsubmitcompletetime cardsweekly on time.

Maintain company vehicle.Perform basic maintenance such as oil changes, headlight and wipe checks, ensure cleanliness, ensure adequate stock levels, and perform safety checks.





Represent Sterling Fire with clients.Ensure Sterling Fire’s interests are always being represented while communicating with clients and while on site.

Communicate with dispatch and management.Effectively communicate with the office to ensure your productivity. This covers a wide range of scenarios from scheduling items to training, from safety to vacation requests. Communications should be constantly taking place to ensure your effectiveness in all aspects of your job.

Attend service calls.Attend regular hours and after-hours calls as directed and ensure systems are left in operation.

Troubleshoot systems.Perform technical investigations and troubleshoot asrequired. Repair systems and ensure systems are left in operation.

Participate in on-call rotation.Be available and prepared for standby shifts. Calls must be answeredimmediatelyand attended to within 1 hour if in town, departure within 30 minutes if out of town. Ensure systems are left in operation.

ProfessionalAppearance.Techniciansare required toensure they are representing Sterling Fire appropriately with their appearance. Professional clothes/company uniform and a neat appearance are requirements of the job.
