Training Lead – SAP Plus

Description
As the Training Lead – SAP Plus, you will be responsible for defining, planning, and leading the end-to-end training strategy, plan, and execution for our clients SAP Plus transformation program. This role supports the successful adoption of SAP S/4HANA and related cloud solutions across impacted business areas.
As a key member of the People team and in partnership with selected System Integration partner, you will ensure that end users, leaders, trainers, and support teams receive the right learning, tools, and sustainment support to perform confidently at go-live and beyond. Additionally, this position carries direct accountability to provide oversight of an on-site training analyst supporting the execution of the training plan, partner with the System Integrator’s Training Lead (who directs offshore training development), and co-develop the people workstream components of Role-to-Position Mapping (RTPM) activities.
Responsibilities
Training strategy and planning
Develop and maintain the SAP Plus training strategy, roadmap, integrated training plan, and
training governance approach across Design, Build, Test, Deploy, Hypercare, and Sustainment.
Partner with the People Director and Change Management Lead to ensure training is integrated
with stakeholder engagement, communications, readiness, adoption, and sustainment planning.
Define the training needs analysis approach and ensure learning requirements are identified
early enough to support curriculum design, content development, scheduling, and business
readiness.
Establish a blended learning approach across instructor-led training, virtual learning, e-learning,
simulations, job aids, quick reference guides, in-app guidance, leader materials, train-the-trainer, practice labs, and refresher learning.
Curriculum, content, and learning experience
Partner with the System Integrator Training Lead to design the SAP Plus curriculum architecture,role-based learning paths,
course catalogues, learning objectives, and audience-to-coursemapping.
Ensure learning materials are practical, process-aligned, accessible, easy to maintain, and tailored to the needs of impacted audiences, including field, operations, corporate, people
leader, and power-user communities.
Partner with Functional and Technical teams to ensure accuracy and consistency with future-state design.
Training delivery and logistics
Plan and manage training delivery across impacted business areas, functions, geographies, andrelease groups, including scheduling, enrollment, attendance, completion tracking, andexception management.
Partner with Technical Team to coordinate training environments, practice data, system access,tools, and technical readiness required for effective learning delivery.
Define and execute a disciplined process to support registration, tracking, reporting, learner communications, and deployment logistics.
Monitor training progress, completion, learner feedback, knowledge checks, and readiness metrics; identify gaps and recommend targeted interventions.
Role-to-Position Mapping accountability
Partner with the People Director to define the People workstream strategy and approach for Role-to-Position Mapping, ensuring it is integrated with training assignment, security access,change impact management, targeted communications, readiness tracking, and deployment planning.
Ensure RTPM outputs are translated into actionable training inputs, including learner audiences, course assignments, training schedules, support needs, and go-live readiness reporting.
Sustainment and adoption
Define the learning sustainment model, including ownership, governance, maintenance, refresh cadence, onboarding integration, and continuous improvement of training materials after go-live.
Partner with the Training Centre of Excellence, business unit training teams, business process owners, functional teams, and support teams to clarify ongoing ownership for LMS content, non-LMS materials, in-app guidance, job aids, refresher training, and onboarding materials.
Use training effectiveness, adoption, support, and readiness data to identify reinforcement needs and recommend sustainment actions.
Ensure training supports the broader SAP Plus objective of making the change stick through practical reinforcement, leader support, user confidence, and ongoing capability building.
Qualifications
Significant experience leading training strategy, instructional design, learning deployment, and capability enablement for large-scale ERP, SAP S/4HANA, technology, or business transformation programs.
Strong understanding of role-based training, learning needs analysis, curriculum design, adult learning principles, training logistics, learning measurement, and sustainment planning.
Experience working with SAP business processes, training tools, LMS platforms, digital adoption platforms, simulations, job aids, and blended learning methods is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to translate complex process, system, security, and organizational changes into practical learning experiences for diverse audiences.
Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills, with the ability to influence across program teams, business leaders, SMEs, vendors, and support organizations.
Experience coordinating training with change management, communications, readiness, testing, deployment, and hypercare activities.
Experience with role mapping, security access readiness, personas, business roles, or learner audience segmentation is an asset.
Clear, concise communicator with strong business judgment, and ability to operate in a complex, fast-paced transformation environment.
Education and Certifications
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Education, Adult Education, Instructional Design, Human Resources (HR), Organizational Development (OD), Business Administration, or Management Information Systems (MIS).
Change Management Certifications (e.g., Prosci Certified Change Practitioner or ACMP CCMP):(nice to have)
Instructional Design or Learning Qualified Certifications: (nice to have)
SAP certifications (such as SAP Activate project methodology or functional/learning enablement badges) (nice to have)
