Job Title: VertiGIS Application Upgrade - Senior Project Manager Location: Peterborough, Ontario Work Model: Onsite Duration: 4 months Extension: 1 Time Must Haves Experience leading projects involving Esri-based geospatial solutions, ArcGIS Portal, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Image Server, GIS infrastructure, middleware, maintenance, services, applications, databases, monitoring, and tools.
Experience leading projects involving integrated networking technologies, Microsoft Azure, Oracle Spatial, MS Fabric, midrange server, enterprise storage, and personal computer system technologies.
Description / Responsibilities / Skills Description A Senior Project Manager is needed to oversee the VertiGIS Application Upgrade project within the Geospatial Ontario IT Program. multi-year effort to upgrade up to 18 business-critical geospatial applications hosted on the GIS Delivery Platform (GDP). deliver like-for-like upgrades of up to 18 existing Geocortex applications, preserving current functionality while upgrading the underlying technology and application codebase. ensure continued alignment with GO-ITS standards and service delivery requirements, maintain vendor support, and mitigate risks associated with unsupported systems. upgrades will address existing functionality and performance issues, support Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) compliance, and deliver an overall improved user experience.
Projects will maintain independent, as well as, Program, and Corporate level governance.
General Skills Leads organizational development, strategy development, business planning, and Ministry funding requests.
Sources, selects and on-boards team members in various disciplines,
clarify roles and responsibilities and set task/deliverable/performance expectations.
Resolves resourcing and inter-personal conflicts, negotiates changes to resourcing, ensures knowledge is shared among team members.
Effectively manages large project budgets and ensures a high level of fiscal control and accountability including estimates, forecasts and reconciliation.
Articulates and prioritizes issues and risks at senior executive levels and recommends mitigation strategies for decision makers.
Promotes OPS I⁢ standards and best practices for project management to facilitate control of system quality.
Desirable Skills Knowledge and understanding of Project Management''s Institute''s Project Management Body of Knowledge Knowledge and understanding of Information Management principles, concepts, policies and practices Knowledge and understanding of Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability Act (AODA) and related regulations and standards Ability to make recommendations on the acquisition of software, hardware, and technology resources Ability to identify conflict between project and functional areas and develops responses to successfully address conflict Ability to handle client relationships to manage expectations, provides updates as required, identifies potential conflicts.
Deliverables Gathers and develops requirements in order to create and maintain a detailed project schedule and/or integrated plan.
Ability to monitor and forecast project costs and provide reporting and input to ensure targets are met Establishes and participates in steering committee and stakeholder forums Provides, project, program, and/or portfolio reporting to multi-stakeholders at senior executive levels.
Experience & Skill Set Requirements Project Management Experience - 45 Formal Project Management training Experience leading large, technically complex projects Experience identifying issues, risks, setting out project timelines, tracking, managing, and reporting progress Experience leading multi-disciplinary projects with IT groups, industry, and business clients Communication Experience - 30 Experience resolving conflict Experience communicating technical concepts to lay audiences Experience negotiating project direction to achieve consensus Experience coordinating Business Analysts and stakeholder engagement Technical Experience - 20 Experience leading GIS (Esri) based projects e.g, ArcGIS Portal and/or ArcGIS Online Experience leading IT Infrastructure modernization and maintenance focused projects Experience with Microsoft Azure infrastructure IT Public Sector Experience - 5 Experience leading projects in the Land and Resources I⁢ Cluster (LRC) Experience overseeing Digital First Assessments, Cyber Security, Architecture reviews and other corporate reviews from within the Ontario Government Experience coordinating the design and implementation of current IT solutions within the Ontario Government.
