Job Summary
We're looking for a bilingual, detail-oriented, versatile professional to join our team as an Accounting & HR Generalist. This is a hybrid position for someone comfortable moving between the numbers side of the business and the people side, handling day-to-day bookkeeping and financial tasks while also supporting recruiting, onboarding, benefits, and employee relations. It's a great fit for someone who enjoys variety, thrives in a small-team environment, and wants broad exposure across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable
Reconcile bank and credit card statements
Assist with payroll processing and ensure accuracy of hours, deductions, and benefits.
Support month-end and year-end close processes
Maintain accurate financial records and general ledger entries
Prepare basic financial reports and assist with budget tracking
Ensure compliance with tax filing deadlines and support external accountant/auditor requests
HR & Payroll
Manage full-cycle recruiting for open roles: posting jobs, screening candidates, scheduling interviews.
Coordinate new hire onboarding, paperwork, and orientation
Process payroll each pay cycle, including hours, overtime, deductions, and off-cycle/bonus runs
Set up new hires in the payroll/HRIS system and manage TD1 (federal and provincial) forms, direct deposit, and other onboarding paperwork
Ensure payroll compliance with federal and Quebec labour standards and wage laws
Handle wage garnishments, source deductions/remittances, and year-end forms (T4, Relevé 1/RL-1s) in coordination with accounting
Administer employee benefits enrollment and respond to employee questions
Maintain personnel files and ensure compliance with employment laws and record-keeping requirements
Support performance review cycles and employee relations issues
Help develop and update HR policies and the employee handbook
Track PTO, attendance, and other HR-related data
Serve as the main point of contact for employee payroll inquiries
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the National Payroll Institute (or actively working toward it) is an asset.
CPA, CRHA designation,
or equivalent accounting/HR certification (or working toward one) is an asset.
Technical Skills
1-3 years of combined experience across accounting/bookkeeping and HR/payroll (we're open to strong candidates on either end of that range).
Solid numerical aptitude and comfort working with accounts, ledgers, and financial data on a daily basis.
Hands-on experience with Canadian year-end payroll, including T4 and Relevé 1 (RL-1) preparation and verification.
Experience with accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of labour standards in Quebec.
In-depth knowledge of Canadian labour laws and human resources regulations.
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) and HRIS/payroll platforms (e.g., Nethris, Rippling, ADP, BambooHR).
Strong communication skills, sound judgment, and the discretion to handle confidential information.

Work Authorization
Must be eligible to work in Canada.
Language Requirements
