Office Office/Site only Company Siemens Energy Canada Limited Organization Gas Services Business Unit Distributed Full / Part time Full time Experience Level Experienced Professional A Snapshot of Your Day The Manufacturing Engineer willmaintain knowledge of manufacturing processes used by Siemens-Energy for selection and deployment of methods that consistently meet engineering requirements.
As part of the Technical Services engineering team in Montreal, his/her responsibilities extend to all Aeroderivative Gas Turbine products: SGT-A65, SGT-A45, SGT-A35 and power turbines.
Supporting the Build Shop and Component Repair, he/she ensures that all queries on fixtures, jigs and manufacturing processes in new build and in repair & overhaul through qualification of processes and sentencing deviations within a unionized environment.
He/she also leads improvements to manufacturing processes to reduce costs while maintaining a high level of quality.
How Youll Make an Impact Working in a multi-functional team structured in Value Streams, the manufacturing engineer is involved in every phase of the overhaul process and in new build.
The candidates main responsibilities are: Define manufacturing processes transferred in-house or any other new products and publish the necessary instructions, Expertise in cutting parameters into various materials, Titanium, Stainless and Inconel Mastery of CAD/CAM tools, including NX, for modeling, assembly, manufacturing, Post Builder, machine simulation and use of Windows libraries, Expertise in Milling, Turning, Blade Tip Grinding on both manual and numerically controlled machines, Expertise in part probing activities and functional dimensioning.
Interact by offering solutions with different suppliers in terms of concept sharing,
Prepare and offer technological manufacturing solutions to reduce manufacturing or repair costs, Initiate the migration of current and future processes from Windows to PLM, with the Manufacturing environment to be integrated into PLM, Request engineering changes to reduce manufacturing costs for the same or higher quality.
Technical support to Repair Plannings, Repair schemes, new tooling required by the shop, EHS investigations.
Create, maintain and/or govern elements of the Technical Package (Process and Part Qualification including First Article Inspection) which clearly define the assembly process and administer effective change control in line with applicable quality system and requirements.
Develop capabilities including people, processes, technology, equipment and tools to meet current and future business requirements consistent with the global strategy.
Lead or support continuous improvement activities to improve quality, turnaround time and cost reduction.
What You Bring Engineering degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering, OIQ membership mandatory.
Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience.
Ability to lead meetings and motivate meeting attendees to perform at their highest potential.
Have knowledge of gas turbines and/or industrial equipment, project management and assembly / manufacturing techniques.
Good understanding of component definition drawings related to the design intent in the Engine assembly.
Ability to read, speak, write, understand, and verbally express ideas and instructions in French. A basic understanding of English is complimentary to read engineering reports, specifications, component drawings, and assembly drawings.
Ability to effectively communicate with peers, supervisors, and management personnel.
Experience in a customer facing environment.
Proven record of delivering technical solutions and improvements is advantageous.
Proven record of working to processes and procedures Ability to evolve and work in a unionized environment.
