The role is located in Pickering, Ontario and reports to the Procurement Manager, the Purchasing Agent responsible for negotiating and purchasing commodities, equipment, and services for the project.What You’ll Do HerePrimary responsibility is to manage the full procurement lifecycle to support the overall success of a project or site.The range of activities includes tendering process, solicitation, contract award and delivery management.The position will require procurement of equipment, material & components as well as nuclear safety related materials & components primarily for use in nuclear power plants in Canada, including plate, structural steel, pipe, tubing, fittings, valves, weld consumables, electrical components & supplies, and personal protective wear.Review purchase requisitions and related documentation to ensure clarity and completeness, proper authorization of funding, delivery requirements, & desired mode of transportation.Preparation and issuance of standard and quality related Request for Quotation (RFQ’s)
to qualified vendors based on Aecon’s Approved Suppliers List (ASL).Negotiate for best price, delivery terms, payment conditions, tax exemptions, price escalation, and other factors impacting supply.Work with Aecon Operations personnel and supporting regional offices to obtain materials, tools, and consumables as required.Ensure quality, reliability and responsiveness to operational needs that meet or exceed organizational expectations.Manage logistics, including expediting for critical site deliveries.Carry out tasks beyond normal business hours to ensure internal clients are serviced.Ensure training on the Aecon Quality Assurance Manual is accurate and up to date.Spend extended periods at a computer.Occasionally travel to suppliers’ facilities to view operations and discuss improvement opportunities.Travel to project sites to participate in required meetings.Work under pressure of tight timelines.Provide procurement support during non‑standard working hours.Visit suppliers and job sites to assist the Quality Department.Stay informed about new products and consumer trends.This position shall procure goods or services in accordance with the authorization and documentation per the Aecon Industrial Policies and Procedures.What You Bring To The Team0‑3 years of experience in a procurement role.Completion of Materials and Operations Management Program at the College or University level is an asset.Enrollment in or completion of PMAC’s Accreditation Program is preferred.Knowledge of OPG and Bruce Power Passport system would be considered an asset.Basic knowledge of material or component codes and standards such as ISO 9001, ASME Section II & III, ASTM, and CSA is an asset.Ability to meet deadlines and manage priorities is critical.Good interpersonal, customer service, communication, decision‑making, and time‑management skills are essential.Knowledge of competitive trends & sales techniques is an asset.Knowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset.Must meet mandated nuclear export controls requirements for employment.Background check including security clearance and reference checks will be required; those with a valid OPG security clearance are strongly preferred.At CanAtom, we are committed to creating an inclusive and accessible workplace.
