Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Contract Hand Welder to join our manufacturing and construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing high-quality welding and assembly tasks on various metal components, ensuring precision and safety throughout the process. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects, utilizing your technical skills in welding, rigging, and mechanical assembly. Responsibilities
- Execute MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding on structural steel, ductwork, and fabricated assemblies following detailed blueprints and schematics.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to accurately assemble components according to specifications.
- Use hand tools, power tools, calipers, and machining equipment to prepare materials for welding or assembly.
- Perform plasma cutting and operate press brake machines to shape metal parts with precision.
- Conduct rigging operations safely when lifting or positioning heavy materials using cranes or forklifts.
- Ensure all work meets quality standards by inspecting welds with calipers and verifying dimensions with basic math skills.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area while adhering to safety protocols related to welding, machining, and construction environments.
Experience
- Proven experience in welding, including MIG and TIG processes within manufacturing or construction settings.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, calipers, schematics, and blueprint reading.
- Familiarity with rigging techniques, crane operation, forklift handling, plasma cutting, press brake machines, and assembly processes.
- Knowledge of ductwork fabrication or related construction experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings accurately and follow detailed instructions for fabrication and assembly tasks.
- Prior experience working with schematics, mechanical systems, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to safety practices in industrial or construction settings.
