Under the direct supervisor of the Education & Outreach Coordinator, the Education & Outreach Program Assistant is responsible for assisting the Education & Outreach Program Coordinator with the facilitation and coordination of SSAIC’s two community-based education programs, “I’m the Boss of Me” and “No is a Full Sentence”as well as other community presentations. They are responsible for community outreach and any other duties as assigned.

- The position is Full time (35 hours per week)
- Shifts are typically 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday 9am - 5pm with an unpaid one hour lunch break
- After hours and weekend work will be required, hours will be flexed as necessary

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Social Work, psychology or related field
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Program Assistant or Facilitator for “I’m the Boss of Me” is an asset.
- Experience in the areas of public and professional education, communications, and fund development, preferably in a non-profit setting.
- Experience in navigating professional and stakeholder relationships.

Knowledge/Skills:

Excellent interpersonal, time management, problem solving, and organizational skills;

- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to write and create materials for a wide variety of audiences, for a variety of purposes, using a multitude of mediums;
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while working on diverse projects at the same time;
- Experience in the supervision of volunteers;
- Understanding of the psychological, emotional, physical, behavioral and economic impacts of sexualized violence and the benefits of counselling and other forms of survivor supports;
- Demonstrated understanding of anti-oppressive, feminist, trauma-informed, and survivor-centered theories and frameworks and services;




- Proficiency in the use and application software applications such as Google Suite products, Microsoft products, and web-based programs are essential;
- Knowledge of child sexual abuse, interest in working directly with children is an asset.

Working Conditions

- Remote working and/or indoor, shared office environment with periods of sustained sitting at a desk.
- Travel required within the City of Saskatoon and surrounding area.
- Ability to lift and carry computers, suitcases, and written material to out of office presentations.
- Working within a crisis environment with exposure to information involving sexualized violence and trauma response.
- After hours and weekend work will be required.

Additional Requirements

An acceptable Criminal Record Check with a vulnerable sector search is a requirement of this position.

Access to a vehicle required.

Compensation

This is an in-scope position with a salary grid as per scale.
