About the Role
Our client is seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused Equipment Rental Customer Service Representative to join our team in Grande Prairie, Alberta. In this front-line role, you will be the primary point of contact for customers renting tools, construction, industrial, and heavy equipment. You will help contractors, businesses, and individuals find the right equipment for their projects while delivering excellent service from inquiry through return.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and assist walk-in, phone, and email customers in a professional and helpful manner.
- Determine customer needs through effective questioning and recommend appropriate rental equipment, accessories, and related products or services.
- Process rental contracts, reservations, extensions, and returns accurately using rental software (e.g., Point of Rental or similar systems).
- Prepare detailed invoices, collect payments, and handle deposits, credit applications, and account inquiries.
- Inspect returned equipment for damage or excessive wear and coordinate with the yard/service team as needed.
- Educate customers on safe and proper equipment operation and basic maintenance guidelines.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and communicate equipment availability, delivery schedules, and status updates.
- Upsell complementary products, protective gear, or services when appropriate.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and escalate issues when necessary to ensure satisfaction.
- Support branch operations by keeping the counter and customer areas organized and assisting with light administrative tasks.
- Follow all company safety, quality, and operational procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training is an asset.
- Previous customer service, retail, or rental industry experience preferred (equipment, tool, or construction rental experience is a strong advantage).
- Robust verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first attitude.
- Comfortable working with computers and learning rental management software.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
- Basic mechanical aptitude or familiarity with construction/industrial equipment is helpful.
- Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends as needed.
- Valid driver’s license is an asset (for occasional local errands or deliveries).
- Ability to lift up to 25–50 lbs occasionally and work in a warehouse/yard-adjacent environment.
