Position Title: Steward’s Helper (Kitchen Steward)

Department: Culinary (Stewarding)

Location: Delta Hotels By Marriott Halifax Downtown, Halifax, NS

Reports To: Executive Chef, Sous Chef

Employment Type: Hourly, Part-Time

General Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Steward’s Helper is to maintain a clean and safe kitchen areas in accordance with the standards set by Chef’s, supervisors, Government and Silverbirch standards

Key Responsibilities:

- Wash soiled dishes, pots, and pans as required; must be proficient in operating an automatic dish washing unit.
- Sweeping and mopping kitchens and surrounding common areas.
- Removing garbage and compost from kitchens and staff room.
- Counting out and loading dishes into warming units or cooling for events.
- Be capable of performing a physically demanding workload, including lifting and standing for long periods of time.
- Cleaning and light stocking of staff common areas.
- Be properly groomed and in a clean uniform while on duty.
- Attend all departmental communication meetings.
- .Cleaning various pieces of kitchen and restaurant equipment in a protected and efficient manner.




- Cleaning and upkeep of Hotel Lounge/Pantry Area with light stocking included.
- Perform other tasks as required by Chefs, Sous Chefs or Supervisors.

Other Abilities, Skills and Competencies:

- Previous stewarding experience required.
- Dependable, team-oriented, and able to work flexible schedules including weekends.

Working Conditions:

- Physically fit; able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs., bend and kneel comfortably.
- Requires long periods of standing.

Unionized Hotel
Shifts: Various (weekends, late shifts, early mornings, evenings, holidays)
Hours: 8–28 per week
Rate of Pay: $17.61 – $18.61
Start Date: June 2026.
