Nupqu Limited Partnership is a growing business, proudly owned by member bands of the Ktunaxa Nation since 2009. With offices in Cranbrook, Castlegar and Fernie, BC, Nupqu conducts a wide variety of work: providing environmental, biological, archeological, forestry, contract administration and safety related consulting services to a variety of clients throughout the Ktunaxa Traditional Territory. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, organized, and responsible individual to join our team in a dynamic and rewarding environment poised for significant growth.

This position will consist of full-time term employment from September through December 2026, managed out of the Fernie, BC office while supporting environmental monitoring projects throughout the Ktunaxa Traditional Territory. The successful candidate will have relevant education and construction environmental monitoring experience aligned with the roles and responsibilities outlined below.

Role & Responsibilities

- Provide environmental monitoring services to support compliance with Construction Environmental Monitoring Plans (CEMPs), permits and applicable environmental requirements;
- Review and support implementation of CEMPs, Care of Water (CoW) Plans, Erosion and Sediment Control (ESC) Plans and Environmental Protection Plans (EPPs);
- Monitor contractor compliance with environmental plans, permits and mitigation measures, and communicate concerns to the project team;
- Be present during instream works and support requirements for stream isolation and fish protection, as required;
- Conduct erosion and sediment control inspections, turbidity monitoring, water-quality sampling and other environmental monitoring activities;
- Document environmental incidents or releases and support timely notification and follow-up in accordance with project procedures;




- Support pre-disturbance surveys and monitoring for wildlife, fish, vegetation and species at risk, within the candidate's training and experience;
- Work closely with construction teams, client representatives and internal subject matter experts to support successful project delivery;
- Monitor field activities to help ensure compliance with company, client and regulatory environmental requirements;
- Prepare and submit clear daily environmental monitoring reports that identify activities, risks, observations and mitigation measures;
- Maintain an independent monitoring role and escalate environmental concerns to the Project Manager or Qualified Environmental Professional, as required;
- Participate in and, when requested, support onsite safety and environmental meetings;
- Be a courageous safety leader and adhere to Nupqu and client safety and environmental requirements.

Education and Experience Qualifications

Applicants should have the following qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree (BSc) in environmental science, biology, natural resource management or a related field, or a relevant environmental or natural resource technical diploma;
- Relevant experience in construction environmental monitoring, preferably in mining, natural resources, civil construction or infrastructure;
- Practical experience with erosion and sediment control, turbidity monitoring, water-quality sampling and field documentation;
- Working knowledge of construction environmental management plans,



environmental protection measures and applicable environmental requirements;
- Experience conducting or supporting pre-disturbance surveys for wildlife, fish, vegetation or species at risk;
- Ability to work independently in the field while communicating effectively with project managers, QEPs, contractors and clients;
- Robust oral and written communication skills, including preparation of clear daily reports;
- Ability to work in remote locations and on variable shifts, including shifts of up to seven days and 10+ hours per day;
- Valid BC Class 5 driver's licence and a clean driving record;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word and Excel.

The following experience, training and certifications will be considered assets:

- BC-CESCL, CPESC or other recognized erosion and sediment control training or certification;
- Other relevant environmental monitoring training or certifications, such as OFA Level 1, electrofishing, swiftwater rescue, UTV or mine-specific training;
- Experience working on active construction or mine sites, including mine driving experience;
- Experience with CEMP, CoW, ESC and TSS or turbidity monitoring requirements;
- Experience with fish salvage, instream works, flow measurements or staff gauge installation;
- Experience conducting wildlife, bird, amphibian, reptile or vegetation surveys;
- Familiarity with ESRI or other field mapping and data-collection software.
