Position Summary:
GMS Mine Repair & Maintenance is currently recruiting on behalf of a respected mining client for an experienced Plant Maintenance Supervisor. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established mining operation in the Northern British Columbia Rockies, where you'll lead a skilled maintenance team in a safety-focused, production-driven environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of plant equipment through effective maintenance planning, leadership, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of fixed plant equipment and facilities.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in compliance with company policies, procedures, and applicable legislation.
- Work closely with plant leadership to schedule and prioritize maintenance activities based on operational requirements.
- Develop detailed work orders, including scope, required tools, materials, timelines, and special requirements.
- Oversee preventative and predictive maintenance programs while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coordinate planned maintenance activities with operations to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
- Develop and monitor key maintenance performance indicators (KPIs), including equipment reliability, contractor performance, and overall equipment effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate work order documentation and maintenance records.
- Monitor and record plant utilization metrics and equipment operating hours.
- Collaborate with warehouse and procurement teams to ensure timely availability of parts and materials.
- Provide technical leadership and support for equipment troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Supervise, coach,
and mentor maintenance personnel while promoting a strong safety culture.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, maintenance standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist in developing and managing maintenance budgets and resource planning.
- Complete additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is considered an asset.
- Red Seal Certification as a Millwright, Industrial Electrician, or Welder is highly regarded and may be considered in lieu of an engineering degree.
- High School Diploma required.
- Minimum two years of maintenance or process/project engineering experience.
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience in an industrial or mining environment.
- Experience managing maintenance budgets and implementing proactive maintenance strategies.
- Strong understanding of preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance, TPM, and continuous improvement principles.
Compensation & Benefits: $130,000 - $145,000/year along with production incentives, retention bonuses, comprehensive employer-paid perks, RRSP matching, and more!
Schedule: 7 days on, 7 days off with 12-hour shifts (days).
