Join our dynamic team as a Trucking Terminal Yard Assistant, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our trucking yard and assist in supporting our mechanical and logistics team.

This "hands on" position is critical to maintaining a clean, organized and efficient work environment. The ideal candidate will assist with shop organization, parts management, and safety practices and inspections to keep shop operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities

- Perform daily inventories of keys and in-transit vehicles.
- Conduct routine yard and building inspections, including fence checks and general safety assessments.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, yard procedures, and applicable transportation regulations by promoting safe work practices, identifying potential hazards, and reporting or addressing safety concerns promptly.
- Conduct routine equipment, inventory and maintenance inspections and report needs to ensure a secure and efficient work environment.
- Perform basic mechanical and facility maintenance tasks under supervision,



including fluid level checks, minor vehicle adjustments, basic carpentry and repair work, and the safe operation of equipment such as forklifts and skid steers.
- Coordinate the local transportation of vehicles and parts as directed by Supervisor and Dispatch
- Support yard and shop operations and maintenance and ensure compliance with company safety standards as directed by Supervisor.
- Communicate professionally with carriers, vendors, customers and internal team members, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette.

Qualifications

- Valid Class 5 Drivers license (Class 3 or 1 considered an asset)
- Strong mechanical aptitude with a keen interest in the heavy-duty truck and transportation industry
- Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English

Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
