Job Summary

The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians in delivering excellent patient care. This role involves assisting with animal handling, maintaining a clean and safe hospital environment, supporting client services, and performing a variety of administrative and clinical tasks.

Key Responsibilities

- Safely restrain and handle animals during examinations and procedures.
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain kennels, cages, and equipment.
- Feed, exercise, and monitor hospitalized animals.
- Assist with laboratory sample collection and processing.
- Prepare surgical packs and assist with surgical procedures as directed.
- Stock medical supplies and maintain inventory.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting clients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and processing payments.
- Educate clients on basic pet care, medications, and post-treatment instructions under veterinary supervision.
- Maintain accurate patient records.

Qualifications





- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Veterinary Assistant certification is an asset but not required.
- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is preferred.
- Comfortable handling animals of various sizes and temperaments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
- Compassionate, reliable, and committed to animal welfare.
