Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our Child Care Centre. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in food preparation and cooking techniques, along with a keen understanding of food safety and handling practices. As an Assistant Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting the Chef in creating different menu for children age 10 months to 5 years while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency in the kitchen.

Duties

- Assist the head chef in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation and cleaning.
- Deliver meals to individual classrooms
- Help manage inventory and ensure all ingredients are fresh and properly stored.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to food safety standards.
- Pick up groceries
- Step into the Chef role in their absence
- Promote a workplace culture of cooperation and respect




- Occasionally assist with classroom clean-up following meal times

Requirements

- Proven experience as a cook or kitchen assistant
- Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle
- Valid Food Safe Level 1 Certificate
- Clear Criminal Record Check
- Ability to provide three written letters of reference
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including opening or closing shifts.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.25-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35.0 – 40.0 per week
