Red Road North is located 15 minutes outside of Lumby and you will be required to commute.
Schedule: Friday - Monday - 8am - 6pm
The Cook is responsible for planning, preparing and cooking meals for 25+ residents of the assisted living residence. The Cook will work closely with the management team to ensure that meals are nutritious, delicious and appealing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and prepare daily menus that are nutritious, appealing and meet the dietary needs of residents.
- Purchase and maintain a sufficient inventory of food and supplies.
- Ensure that all kitchen equipment is maintained correctly and in protected working order.
- Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
- Work closely with a registered dietitian to ensure that meals are balanced, healthy, and meet residents’ dietary needs.
- Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required.
- Help to create a welcoming and comfortable dining experience for residents.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Cook in a healthcare setting or similar environment.
- Completion of a culinary arts program or equivalent experience.
- A valid food safe level 1 certificate.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure.
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices and sanitation guidelines.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holiday
