The Opportunity
AIM Roads is seeking a highly analytical and detailed-oriented Project Controller / Project Cost Coordinator to support the delivery of critical highway maintenance and infrastructure projects.
This position offers an excellent career development opportunity for a recent graduate in Finance, Accounting, Business, Project Management, Engineering, or a related discipline, as well as for an experienced Project Coordinator or Senior Project Coordinator looking to transition into project controls, cost management, and financial oversight. The role provides hands-on exposure to budgeting, forecasting, earned value analysis, operational reporting and infrastructure project delivery within a global orgnization, creating a strong foundation for advancement into Project Controls Management, Project Manager, Finance Manger or Operations leadership roles.
Reporting to the Project Director and working closely with Road Superintendents and Project Managers, this role is responsible for project cost control, forecasting, earned value tracking and performance reporting. The successful candidate will act as a key business partner to operational leaders, ensuring project costs are effectively monitored, risks are identified early, and financial performance algins with project objectives.

Key Responsiblities:
- Lead and manage the cost control function to drive financial efficiency
- Oversee and analyze variances to earned value and budget reports and provide explanation
- Development and delivery of Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboard
- Assist in annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Partner strategically with Operations and Finance Manager to identify and capitalize on opportunities to enhance operational efficiency while mitigating risks
- Support other finance team members with review of the accruals and the month-end close
- Partner with Finance Team to standardize and improve accounting processes and monthly reporting
- Prepare job costing reports and PO reports and identify existing or potential issues
- Conduct in-depth cost analysis of completed projects and deliver insightful lessons-learned reports
- Work closely with Finance Manager to develop monthly operational reportingEvaluating business processes to uncover areas for improvements and work with a team to develop and implement solutions
- Assemble presentations and effectively present message to various levels of the organization
- Other projects as assigned
Qualifications & Experience
- Accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) considered an asset
- Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Prior cost control experience in road maintenance, or infrastructure industry considered an asset
- 5+ years in an analytical role
- Independent worker, driven achiever
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to suggest alternatives or challenge assumptions to explore opportunities to exceed plans
- Solid understanding of financial reporting
- Previous experience with Explore an asset
Eligibility to Work In Canada
Applicants must be legally authorized to work in Canada at the time of application and throughout their employment. Pay: $105,000.00-$110,000.00 per year
