Summary
We are looking for a dependable and skilled Maintenance Technician, to join our non-profit society and work to maintain our residential properties in a safe, clean, and welcoming condition. This hands-on position is responsible for building maintenance, landscaping, preventative maintenance, repairs, inspections, and supporting a positive living environment for residents.
The successful candidate is self-motivated, organized, and committed to providing excellent service while working respectfully within occupied residential communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine, preventative, and emergency maintenance of residential buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Complete general repairs, including carpentry, painting, drywall, doors, locks, lighting, plumbing fixtures, and basic electrical repairs.
- Inspect building systems and identify maintenance or safety concerns requiring repair or specialized trades.
- Prepare vacant suites for new residents, including repairs, painting, inspections, and move-in readiness.
- Maintain lawns, gardens, trees, walkways, parking areas, and common outdoor spaces.
- Perform seasonal duties, including snow and ice removal.
- Operate and maintain maintenance tools, landscaping equipment, and snow removal equipment safely.
- Coordinate with contractors and service providers as required.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspections,
and inventory using computerized maintenance systems.
- Follow all Occupational Health and Safety, WorkSafeBC, and organizational safety policies.
- Provide courteous, professional service while respecting the privacy and dignity of residents.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in building, property, or facilities maintenance.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and building systems.
- Experience performing general building repairs, preventative maintenance, and landscaping.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance or property management systems.
- Strong organizational, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including lifting up to 50 lbs. and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Successful Criminal Record Check.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in supportive housing, non-profit housing, social housing, or community services.
- Supervisory, lead hand, or project coordination experience.
Pay: $30.00-$40.00 per hour
