Job Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, caring, and reliable 1:1 support worker to provide individualized support for a child in our program with additional needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, patience, and a genuine desire to build a trusting relationship with the child they are supporting.

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 2:30pm-6:00pm (8 hour shifts on school Pro-D days)

Education and Experience:

- Completion of Grade 12, plus related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Minimum of six months' part-time experience providing 1:1 support to a child aged 5–12, preferably in a child care, school, or camp setting.
- Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Support Services, Education Assistant, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Current and valid First Aid and CPR C Level 1 is required (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).
- Responsible Adult Certificate is required (or willingness to obtain prior to employment).

Skills/Responsibilities:

- Establishing clear, consistent boundaries while fostering a safe,



positive, and nurturing environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, flexibility, and the ability to respond calmly and confidently to behavioural challenges.
- Ability to work collaboratively with camp staff and families.
- Ensure a safe workplace by adhering to the child's care plan.
- Prior experience working with individuals with additional needs is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, patience, empathy, and the ability to build trusting relationships are essential.

Additional Information:

- A clear Criminal Record Check is required before employment.
- We strongly encourage Early Childhood Educators (ECEs) with 1:1 support experience to apply.
- Applicants with a valid ECE Certificate are eligible for the BC ECE Wage Enhancement.

This position is funded through the BC Centre for Ability.

Pay: $24.40 per hour
