The Regional Head of Engineering & Asset Reliability will oversee all engineering, maintenance systems, and technical infrastructure across our manufacturing facilities in Saskatchewan, with the primary office and regional hub based out of Swift Current. This leadership role is directly accountable for optimizing asset lifecycles, driving engineering excellence, and executing large-scale capital expenditure (CapEx) initiatives across multiple sites. The position ensures total alignment with global engineering benchmarks while strictly adhering to Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) regulations.

Key Result Areas (KRAs) & Weightage
The performance of the Regional Head of Engineering & Asset Reliability will be evaluated based on the following six Key Result Areas:
- Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Strategy & Project Execution (40%)
- Asset Reliability & Maintenance Optimization (20%)
- Engineering Standards & Multi-Site Harmonization (15%)
- Financial Stewardship & MRO Budgetary Control (15%)
- Technical Talent Leadership & Succession Planning (10%)
Core Responsibilities
1. Capital Expenditure (CapEx) Strategy & Project Execution
- Lead the long-term regional CapEx planning, forecasting, and resource allocation across all Saskatchewan facilities.
- Direct the scoping, engineering design, budgeting, and flawless execution of major plant expansions, infrastructure upgrades, and technological modernizations.
- Implement strict stage-gate project management frameworks, ensuring all capital projects move from initial feasibility studies through to final commissioning on time and within budget.
- Oversee vendor evaluations and technical contract negotiations with engineering consultants, construction firms,
and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).
2. Asset Reliability & Engineering Optimization
- Standardize preventative, predictive, and precision maintenance programs across all plants using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Deploy Reliability-Cantered Maintenance (RCM) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to eliminate chronic equipment failures and maximize mean time between failures (MTBF).
- Manage regional engineering spare parts strategies and critical equipment redundancy plans to optimize cross-plant asset sharing.
3. Engineering Standards & Multi-Site Harmonization
- Translate corporate engineering guidelines from the Global Head of Manufacturing into localized, high-performing operational protocols.
- Audit and harmonize technical standard operating procedures (SOPs) across all Saskatchewan sites to ensure uniform engineering standards.
- Champion energy efficiency, utility conservation (power, water, gas), and structural integrity across all physical plants.
4. Process Safety & Regulatory Compliance
- Guarantee all structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering initiatives strictly comply with the Saskatchewan Employment Act, Canadian Electrical Code, and local building standards.
- Drive a rigorous process safety management (PSM) culture to eliminate mechanical, pressure vessel, and electrical hazards.
- Partner with environmental and safety teams to manage emissions compliance, pressure boundary inspections, and sustainable waste reduction.
5. Financial Stewardship & MRO Budgetary Control
- Formulate, justify, and manage the annual maintenance, repair,
and operations (MRO) budgets alongside capital engineering budgets for all regional facilities.
- Apply comprehensive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) evaluation models for all major equipment acquisitions to justify CapEx investments to global leadership.
6. Engineering Leadership & Technical Capability
- Lead, mentor, and build technical capabilities among Swift Current-based teams and plant engineering managers across the province.
- Establish robust technical succession pathways for business-critical specialized roles across the province.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Education & Professional Designations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
Experience
- 10+ years of progressive engineering and plant maintenance leadership experience within heavy industrial processing environments (e.g., manufacturing, mining, agri-business, or chemical processing).
- Proven Track Record in CapEx: Demonstrated experience successfully managing capital project portfolios from inception to commissioning.
- Experience operating within a matrixed global organization and coordinating with international technical stakeholders.
Critical Skills & Competencies
- Engineering Mastery: Comprehensive expertise in automated machinery, rotating equipment, structural load demands, Utilities.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Thorough understanding of Saskatchewan OHS Regulations and Canadian industrial compliance codes.
- Mobility: Valid driver’s license and readiness to travel frequently from the Swift Current hub to individual regional plants in Saskatchewan.
Pay: $75,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
