Role Overview
The Marketing Communications Specialist at Nerval Corporation is a versatile creative professional responsible for managing and executing a wide range of marketing activities. This role spans graphic design, social media management, digital marketing, content creation, and print media — ensuring that Nerval's brand message is consistently and compellingly conveyed across all platforms. The Marketing Communications Specialist plays a key role in shaping the company's visual and digital presence, working closely with the Marketing Executive and cross-functional teams to bring campaigns and communications to life.
Key Responsibilities
Graphic Design
- Design marketing materials including brochures, case studies, project portfolios, sell sheets, tradeshow displays, signage, and other printed collateral.
- Develop visually compelling graphics for both print and digital mediums, ensuring consistency with Nerval's brand guidelines.
- Prepare print-ready files in correct formats, ensuring proper resolution, bleed, colour profiles, and specifications for commercial print production.
- Build and maintain a library of reusable branded templates (PowerPoint, Word, PDF) to streamline team-wide consistency.
- Collaborate with various departments to create tailored marketing materials that meet specific business needs.
Social Media Management
- Develop and implement a social media strategy aligned with business goals and campaign initiatives.
- Create, schedule, and publish engaging content across all social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, and others.
- Monitor social media channels, respond to comments and messages, and actively engage with the online community to build brand awareness and loyalty.
- Track and analyze social media performance metrics, adjusting content strategy to improve reach, engagement, and audience growth.
Content Creation & Marketing Communications
- Write and design monthly newsletters, press releases, blog posts,
and other marketing communications that effectively convey Nerval's brand message.
- Develop content for digital campaigns, email marketing, and other promotional activities.
- Draft and design content for client-facing presentation decks and FF&E; specification packages.
- Ensure all content is consistent with Nerval's tone of voice and visual brand identity.
Print Media Management
- Coordinate the printing, proofing, and quality control of in-house artwork and printed collateral.
- Liaise with external print vendors to manage timelines, specifications, and delivery.
- Maintain and organize digital asset libraries and print files for efficiency and version control.
Website Management
- Update and maintain the company's website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and aligned with marketing initiatives.
- Optimize website content for search engines (SEO) to enhance visibility and drive traffic.
- Liaise with external developers or support agencies as needed for more complex web development tasks.
Marketing Strategy Support
- Support the Marketing Executive in developing and executing comprehensive marketing strategies across digital and print channels.
- Conduct basic market research and competitor analysis to inform content direction and identify trends.
- Track the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide insight-driven recommendations for future efforts.
Professional Presence
- Represent the Nerval brand with professionalism in all internal and external interactions.
- Maintain a polished, business-casual to formal appearance depending on occasion.
- Participate in company events and contribute to a collaborative and creative team culture.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in a marketing,
communications, graphic design, or digital media role.
- Post-secondary education in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field.
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign); experience with Adobe Acrobat Pro for PDF workflows.
- Strong understanding of print production processes, file setup, resolution standards (RGB vs. CMYK), and colour management.
- Proven experience managing social media accounts and creating platform-tailored content.
- Knowledge of web platforms such as WordPress and basic HTML/CSS understanding.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to adapt tone and style for various audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word) for template creation and branded document production.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of SEO best practices and digital marketing trends.
- Photography or video editing experience is considered an asset.
Work Environment
This is a full-time, on-site position based in Sherwood Park, AB. The Marketing Communications Specialist will work within a collaborative marketing team and interact regularly with sales, project management, and leadership.
