Domcor Traffic Control Intl. Inc. is looking for an experienced Traffic Management Planner / TMP Designer to support our growing traffic control operations across British Columbia.

This role is ideal for someone with strong knowledge of traffic control planning, construction site safety, lane closure requirements, permitting, risk assessments, and the development of Traffic Management Plans for a variety of project types. We are also open to considering candidates with an engineering background, especially those with experience in transportation, civil construction, roadworks, utilities, municipal work, or infrastructure projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing safe, practical, and compliant traffic management plans that support field operations, protect workers and the public, and meet client, municipal, provincial, and regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Develop Traffic Management Plans for Category 1, Category 2, and Category 3 work.

Prepare clear, accurate, and practical traffic control drawings and documentation.

Review project scopes, site conditions, construction staging, traffic volumes, road classifications, pedestrian impacts, emergency access, and worker safety considerations.

Complete and support project-specific risk assessments related to traffic control operations.

Apply the hierarchy of controls when developing traffic management strategies, including elimination, substitution, engineering controls, administrative controls, and PPE where applicable.

Identify hazards related to vehicle traffic, pedestrian movement, cyclists, equipment access, limited visibility, night work, congestion, intersections, detours, and high-risk work zones.

Recommend appropriate controls such as lane closures, detours,



temporary signage, barriers, delineation, traffic control persons, AFADs, buffer zones, work zone layouts, and communication procedures.

Coordinate with operations, supervisors, clients, municipalities, contractors, and permitting authorities.

Support permit applications and ensure plans meet applicable requirements and submission standards.

Review and revise plans based on client feedback, field conditions, or authority having jurisdiction requirements.

Provide technical support to field teams to ensure TMPs are understood and implemented properly.

Maintain organized records of TMPs, permits, revisions, risk assessments, and supporting documents.

Assist with continuous improvement of Domcor’s traffic planning processes, templates, safety standards, and operational consistency.

Qualifications

Experience developing Traffic Management Plans in British Columbia is strongly preferred.

Knowledge of Category 1, 2, and 3 traffic management planning requirements.

Strong understanding of traffic control principles, work zone safety, road construction, and temporary traffic control setups.

Ability to complete hazard assessments and apply risk-based planning.

Understanding of the hierarchy of controls and how to apply it to traffic management planning.

Experience with traffic planning software such as RapidPlan, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, or similar programs is an asset.





Strong attention to detail and ability to produce professional, accurate documents.

Ability to interpret drawings, site plans, construction schedules, and project scopes.

Strong communication skills and ability to work with operations teams, clients, municipalities, and field staff.

Engineering, civil technology, transportation planning, construction coordination, or related education is considered an asset.

Candidates with engineering experience or designation will be considered.

This person should be able to think critically, ask the right questions, identify risks before they become problems, and create plans that are safe, realistic, and compliant.

Compensation

Recommended posting range:

$27-$33 per hour, depending on experience, qualifications, and ability to independently develop Category 1, 2, and 3 TMPs.
