HIRING – JUNIOR PROJECT COORDINATOR (ENGINEERING & SIGN MANUFACTURING)

Everest Signs, established in 1986, is a CSA-certified, full-service signage company operating from a modern 20,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility in Toronto (GTA East). We specialize in the in-house design, engineering, manufacturing and installation of illuminated and non-illuminated signage for municipalities, hospitals, schools, churches, commercial developments, retail centres and corporate clients throughout Ontario.
Every project we undertake is custom designed and manufactured. From large pylon signs and LED message centres to architectural and wayfinding systems, our team manages projects from concept through engineering, manufacturing and final installation.
As our company continues to grow, we are expanding our Engineering, Estimating, Project Management, Production and Installation departments. Over the past few months, we have welcomed several new team members across multiple departments and continue to invest in developing future leaders within our organization.
Position
Junior Project Coordinator (Engineering & Manufacturing)
Job Description
Everest Signs is seeking a motivated, organized and technically minded individual to join our growing Operations Team as a Junior Project Coordinator.
Reporting directly to the Manager – Contracts & Projects and Operations Manager, this position has been designed as a structured training role that prepares the successful candidate to become a full Project Coordinator.
Initially, the successful candidate will support our Project Coordination team by managing reception responsibilities, project administration, documentation, logistics, procurement coordination and smaller projects while learning every aspect of the custom sign manufacturing industry.
As training progresses, the candidate will gradually assume responsibility for increasingly complex projects before advancing to independently managing municipal, institutional and commercial signage projects.
This position offers an outstanding career opportunity for Civil Engineering graduates or individuals with construction-related education who are interested in engineering, manufacturing, project management and construction coordination.
Duties Include
Reception & Administrative Support
- Professionally answer and direct incoming telephone calls.
- Welcome visitors and assist with general reception duties.
- Respond to routine customer inquiries and direct calls to the appropriate department.
- Assist with general office administration and correspondence.
- Maintain organized electronic and paper project files.
- Prepare project folders and document transmittals.
- Coordinate courier shipments and incoming deliveries.
- Support Project Coordinators with day-to-day administrative activities.
Project Coordination Support
- Assist Project Coordinators in managing multiple active signage projects.
- Track project schedules, approvals and manufacturing deadlines.
- Follow up on shop drawing submissions and approvals.
- Coordinate communication between clients, consultants, suppliers and internal departments.
- Prepare project documentation and installation packages.
- Assist with procurement and material ordering.
- Coordinate freight shipments and deliveries.
- Assist with production scheduling and installation planning.
- Participate in occasional site visits to verify measurements and installation conditions.
- Learn company systems, procedures and project workflows.
Manufacturing & Engineering Coordination
As training progresses, responsibilities will expand to include:
- Review approved shop drawings prior to manufacturing.
- Verify project scope, materials and manufacturing requirements.
- Prepare material lists and production checklists.
- Coordinate procurement activities.
- Monitor production schedules.
- Assist with site surveys and installation planning.
- Prepare installation checklists.
- Explain project requirements to production and installation teams.
- Assist with preparation of structural drawings where required.
- Help resolve manufacturing and installation issues.
Future Responsibilities
As experience develops, the successful candidate will gradually begin managing smaller projects independently before progressing to larger and more complex municipal, institutional and commercial signage projects.
Future responsibilities include:
- Managing complete signage projects from engineering approval through manufacturing and installation.
- Coordinating clients, consultants, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Reviewing shop drawings.
- Conducting site surveys.
- Coordinating procurement and production.
- Scheduling installations.
- Monitoring project budgets and timelines.
- Ensuring projects meet Everest Signs' quality standards and customer expectations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering is strongly preferred.
- Candidates with Mechanical Engineering, Construction Engineering, Architectural Technology or related technical disciplines are also encouraged to apply.
- Previous project coordination, construction or manufacturing experience is considered an asset but is not required.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
- Ability to read architectural and engineering drawings.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
- AutoCAD experience is considered an asset.
- Adobe Illustrator experience is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Positive attitude, initiative and willingness to learn.
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Valid Ontario Driver's Licence is considered an asset.
