Position Details
Reporting tothe Program Coordinator and Program Manager – BGC Airdrie Club, the Certified Level 2 ECE (or higher) will Lead all aspects of licensed Before and After School Care at Heloise Lorimer Location during all school days. These programs focus on social, recreational, and educational programming as well as promote self-esteem enhancement for children grades 1-5.
Key Responsibilities
● Ability to communicate effectively with parents, guardians and stakeholders
● Planning & organizing daily before and after school care programming
● Facilitation of social recreational and educational programs for children grades 1-5, focusing on social skill development and individual self-esteem enhancement
● Submit Monthly reports as required by BGC, and Alberta Child Care Licensing
● Maintain accurate attendance records, staff records, program behavioral notes and records, and more
● Volunteer management such as guiding youth volunteers, or practicum students in on-the-job skill development opportunities
● Daily facilities management include cleaning and ensuring facility health and safety
● Ensures all areas of programming adheres to Licensing Standards as directed by Alberta Health Services.
● Ensures all areas of programming adheres to the Program Plan as approved by Alberta Child Care Licensing
● Ensures all areas of programming adheres to the Contract Agreement as outlined by Rocky View School Division
● Support the daily needs of children in a fast-paced, engaging childcare environment
● Ability to create supportive and engaging relationships with parents, guardians, and stakeholders
● Ability to positively engage in a welcoming team environment with a clear understanding of BGC Airdrie policies and procedures.
● Punctuality, and consistent program attendance,
as it is vital to the success of your role and building relationships with the participants.
Skills
● Must be 18 years of age or older**
● Certified Level 2 ECE, Level 3 with experience is preferred*** as per Alberta Child Care Certification
● Knowledge of SEL Model, Trauma Informed Child Care, and Working in Teams is an asset, but training will be provided.
● 2 years’ experience working with children in an after-school/out-of-school child care facility preferred.
● Excellent communication and organizational skills
● Able to work as part of a team and model confidence during times of independence
● Certified in First Aid (Level B or C) or ability to obtain it within 1 month of your employment.
● Ability to provide RCMP Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector, upon commencement of employment, no older than 3 months
Hours of Work
This is a 40 hour per week position, based on Rocky View School Division operational days and will be based on a combination of direct childcare hours and staff meeting hours too.
Note *** Additional hours may be available on school breaks to this candidate.
Direct Child Care Hours
Before School:
Monday - Thursday 6:15am-8:00am
Fridays 6:15am-8:00am
Direct Child Care Hours After School:
Monday - Thursday 2:45pm - 6:00pm
Fridays 12:45 PM – 6:00 PM
School Days only.
Wage top up funding
GOA Staff Support Top Up- dependent on Staff Certification and is only applicable to direct
childcare hours
Level 2/CDW $5.05
Level 3/CDS $8.62
Wage Rate ( before top up )
Level 2 $18.00 per/hour
Level 3 $19.00 per/hour
Probationary Period/Additional Information
Benefits after 3-month probationary period. There is a three-month probationary period for this position.
