Job Overview Scholars of Vaughan East is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Bilingual French/English Tutor to join our team. We want someone who enjoys working in a supportive teaching environment and is committed to helping students build confidence, strengthen skills, and achieve real academic results.
You will receive full training in our teaching standards and methodology. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to inspire diverse learners—including young children and students with special education needs—while creating a positive, engaging classroom experience.
What You Will Do (Duties)
- Subject-Specific Instruction: Teach distinct English and French classes in focused, small groups (up to a 3:1 ratio).
- Comprehensive Delivery: Deliver engaging lessons incorporating speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities tailored to the specific subject being taught.
- Inclusive Teaching: Adapt teaching methods and strategies to accommodate diverse learning needs, including students with disabilities or special education requirements.
- Classroom Management: Foster a supportive, organized environment that encourages student participation, curiosity, and confidence.
- Progress Tracking: Maintain accurate, up-to-date reporting on student progress.
- Collaboration:
Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative educational team.
What You Need (Qualifications & Skills)
- Experience: Previous teaching or tutoring experience within Canada is required.
- Education: University degree (completed or in progress).
- Language Fluency: Must have strong oral, reading, and written communication skills in both English and French. Completion of high school in French Immersion is required.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills to deliver effective instruction and collaborate with staff.
- Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with educational technology, computer-based learning tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong Organization: Excellent time-management skills to handle multiple students and administrative tasks efficiently.
Assets (Nice-to-Haves)
- Currently enrolled in Teachers College, or B.Ed. (completed or in progress).
- Experience teaching or tutoring other subjects, specifically Math and Science.
- Experience working with children in early childhood education, special education, or individuals with disabilities.
Job Types: Part time, Permanent
Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
