Position Overview

The Summerside Residents Association (SSRA) is seeking a dependable, experienced individual to join our team as a Full-Time Park Maintenance Crew Member, with a strong emphasis on landscaping and grounds care.

This year-round position is responsible for the care, upkeep, and safety of our outdoor amenities and community spaces, including parks, trails, the Beach Club, playgrounds, and various facilities.

We are specifically looking for a candidate with a solid background in landscaping who takes pride in maintaining high-quality outdoor environments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and understands the importance of creating and sustaining a clean, safe, and visually appealing community for residents and guests.

Key Responsibilities: Landscaping & Grounds Maintenance (Primary Focus)

- Perform comprehensive landscaping duties including mowing, trimming, edging, weeding, fertilizing, watering, and seasonal planting.
- Maintain turf health and appearance across all SSRA properties, ensuring consistent quality and care.
- Assist with landscape design improvements, plant care, and seasonal transitions (spring clean-up, fall prep, etc.).
- Identify and address issues related to soil health, irrigation, plant disease, and general landscape condition.
- Ensure all green spaces are maintained to a high aesthetic standard reflective of SSRA expectations.

General Maintenance & Operations

- Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of all SSRA green spaces, facilities, and recreational areas.
- Complete regular inspections and minor maintenance on playgrounds, beach areas, park structures, and amenities.
- Operate and maintain landscaping tools, power equipment, and small machinery safely and effectively.
- Secure buildings and maintenance facilities during opening/closing shifts.

Seasonal Responsibilities

- Conduct lake patrols (via boat) to ensure compliance with SSRA rules, confirm member identification, and remove debris.
- Perform snow and ice removal on sidewalks, trails,



and common areas during the winter months.
- Assist with rink and lake ice maintenance to support winter recreational programming.

Safety & Community Interaction

- Report safety hazards, damages, or vandalism promptly to supervisory staff.
- Uphold SSRA rules and provide respectful, professional communication with residents and guests.
- Work independently and collaboratively to complete tasks efficiently and to a high standard.

Qualifications & Attributes

- Minimum 2+ years of hands-on landscaping experience (required)
- Strong knowledge of turf care, plant maintenance, and seasonal landscaping practices
- Experience with irrigation systems, soil management, and plant health is considered an asset
- Proven ability to operate landscaping tools and equipment safely
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently in outdoor environments year-round
- High attention to detail and pride in maintaining visually appealing spaces
- Positive attitude and solid customer service mindset
- Ability to follow safety protocols and contribute to a team environment
- Valid driver’s license required
- Boating experience and/or willingness to learn are assets
- First Aid/CPR certification is an asset, but not required

Compensation & Schedule

- Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
- Wage: Starting at $22.00 per hour (based on experience)
- Schedule: 40 hours per week (primarily weekdays, with occasional evenings/weekends as required)
- Benefits: Comprehensive health benefits available following successful completion of probation
