This position requires the supervisor to supervise two centers while keeping communications open with third center located within the same area.
We are looking for a passionate and determined RECE leader for this exciting leadership role! The Centre Supervisor will be responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operations of two Centers and will assist to develop and execute an operational plan that ensures the Centre’s excellence. The Centres Supervisor will cultivate and foster an exceptional team of educators to provide outstanding childcare to the community. They will also lead enrollment and oversee safety and the wellbeing of the Centre, children and employees.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, implement and supervise daycare activities to meet the physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of the children in the program
- Supervise and assist daycare educators in: developing daily activity plans, providing nutritious snacks and lunches, coordinating sleep and rest time, establishing acceptable disciplinary policies, and guiding/assisting children in the development of proper eating, dressing and toilet habits.
- Develop programs and activities that are culturally appropriate, give input into activity planning and provide support and direction to daycare teachers regarding child development.
- Provide direct supervision, recruitment, orientation, evaluation, discipline and performance management of the Centre staff, students and volunteers.
- Understands and complies with all regulatory items as per the Child Care and Early Years Act, Ministry of Education, and others. Manages and ensures that standards of practice are met and exceeded.
- Manages the marketing, advertising, and public relation components of the Centre’s programs to promote enrollment, Centre’s profile, public awareness of critical issues for childcare, families, community, etc,
Promote a positive image of the daycare program to the public. Develop and maintain current, accurate and confidential client files.
- Managing calls, emails and enrolment are to be completed regularly and organized within the business. Ensures the health, safety and well-being of children and Staff in the Centre. Daily communication required to report to the Owner/Director.
- Conduct staff meetings to discuss daycare initiatives, resolve issues and support professional development.
- Works with external agencies, services and resources including local community agencies within the child and family sector to provide integrated seamless programs.
- Plans and implements parent/family involvement, able to exercise sensitivity and maturity in dealing with both children and adults.
- Responsible for all routine administrative tasks involving staff scheduling and hiring.
- Assumes frontline responsibilities as required. Helping the Staff in cleaning and ensuring the Centre is always clean as per the Public Health directions. Jumping onto the floor when needed or staff shortages.
Credentials:
- Must be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
- Able to obtain a clear Police Vulnerable Sector Screening, First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate - Level C and meet health requirements.
- Current Food Handlers certificate or a willingness to obtain.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience working in a licensed childcare centre as a site supervisor.
Other requirements:
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel and the ability to learn current programs, as required. Intermediate knowledge of technology tools and website related programs
- Knowledge of employment standards, labour relations principles and practices, and relevant employment legislation, including human rights and occupational health and safety
- Extensive knowledge of child development, current research and initiatives related to the early learning and the childcare field.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize different competing requirements simultaneously.
- Excellent command of the English language (both verbal and written), highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to co-operate, follow instructions and make difficult decisions.
- Strong conflict resolution skills and sound judgement. Always demonstrates responsible behaviour and maintains high ethical standards.
