AYR Motor Express understands the needs of our drivers to have a good balance of work and home life. We are currently have added a position and are hiring a Driver Planner at our Woodstock NB location. This role is unique to our business as the position is dedicated to the organization of our driver’s schedule needs in coordination with the company’s need to have freight moving.

Job Duties

- To act proactively to assign (seat) drivers in available company trucks so as to always maximize truck and fleet utilization.
- Manage driver home time, appointments and vacations to ensure sufficient driver s available to staff company trucks for our customers.
- To be available as necessary to solve driver availability issues to support Operations/Dispatch.
- To have a working knowledge of the Canada and USA hours of service to help advise drivers as necessary.
- Learn what drivers run Canada/USA, Canada only, regional or local; single or team; driver compatibility to work in team (smoker or non-smoker, language function, country of origin).
- To know driver’s preferences so as to maximize their work and ensure their retention as long term employees.
- To communicate and work closely with Operations/Dispatch to ensure trucks and drivers are properly planned and available so as to avoid unnecessary waiting/delay.

Driver Relations

- To communicate with drivers regularly regarding scheduling,



availability and company expectations. It is critical that both the driver and company needs are met.
- To review driver mileages/hours of service/work cycle to ensure maximum utilization and compliance to company rules.
- To meet with drivers as necessary to communicate company policy or reinforce positive motivational messages.
- To meet with drivers on regular basis and as necessary to ensure long term retention.
- To maintain a high level of retention and training of drivers as necessary.
- Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Experience

- Experience with Planning, Scheduling, or forecasting
- Experience in transportation industry is an asset
- Microsoft Suite – Office, Word, Power Point, Excel
- Organized and detail oriented
- Exceptional communications skills, over the phone and in person
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule
- Working knowledge of TruckMate is an asset
- Bilingualism is an asset

HOURS OF WORK

Days, into early evenings, weekends as required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $45,000.00 per year
