Job Description

The HSE Co-op placement has the responsibility to assist with SEC's health, safety, and environmental program. Safran's paid Co-op program allows students the opportunity to gain valuable and applicable work experience in a fast-paced and challenging environment. The Co-op placement is for the duration of the Fall/Winter with flexible start/end dates and will consist of both major projects as well as daily HSE-related tasks.
As a co-op student, you will work on meaningful projects that support our operations and give you hands-on experience in a agile, safety-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist in the development and revision of HSE policies and procedures
- Support completion of hazard and risk assessments for job tasks and equipment
- Develop and maintain a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) inventory and chemical log to ensure WHMIS compliance
- Assist in the creation of an SEC HSE Handbook for new hires
- Support compliance with the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) and WHMIS requirements
- Participate in incident investigations, assist with documentation, and contribute to root cause analysis
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Job Requirements





- Currently enrolled in an Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Health, or related program
- Working knowledge of Ontario OHSA and WHMIS legislation
- Robust organizational and documentation skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Demonstrated professionalism and ability to handle confidential information
- Ability to work in accordance with Ontario Health & Safety legislation.
- Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and regularly access the production floor
- CSA-approved safety footwear is required and must be provided by the employee
- Required to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policies
- Must be able to qualify for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Canada.
