Med Supper Club is one of Ottawa’s premier hospitality destinations, offering an elevated dining experience, exceptional service, and a vibrant atmosphere. We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Kitchen Manager to lead our culinary team and ensure the highest standards of food quality, consistency, cleanliness, and operational excellence.
Position Summary
The Kitchen Manager is responsible for overseeing all back-of-house operations, including staff leadership, food quality, inventory management, cost control, scheduling, and maintaining health and safety standards. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding guest experiences through exceptional food execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and develop the kitchen team to ensure high performance and accountability.
- Manage daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, line execution, and service standards.
- Recruit, train, and onboard kitchen staff.
- Create and manage staff schedules while maintaining labour targets.
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and consistency across all menu items.
- Manage inventory levels, ordering, receiving, and vendor relationships.
- Control food costs, waste, and kitchen expenses to achieve financial goals.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, sanitation, and food handling regulations.
- Maintain equipment and coordinate repairs and preventative maintenance as needed.
- Work collaboratively with ownership and front-of-house leadership to optimize operations and guest satisfaction.
- Assist with menu development, seasonal features, and special events.
- Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace culture.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of kitchen management or executive sous chef experience in a high-volume restaurant environment.
- Robust leadership and team-building skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Thorough knowledge of food safety regulations and kitchen best practices.
- Experience with inventory management, food costing, and labour management.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Smart Serve and Food Handler Certification considered an asset.
