Role Overview

The IT Systems Analyst is responsible for supporting and optimizing Nerval Corporation's technology systems and data infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, integrity, and security of business systems and data by maintaining data quality, supporting system integrations, and safeguarding organizational data through robust backup and recovery practices. The IT Systems Analyst works closely with the ERP/IT Manager and broader leadership team to keep systems running effectively and to support data-related initiatives as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Data Hygiene & Integrity

- Perform routine data hygiene tasks across business systems, including identifying and resolving duplicate, incomplete, or inconsistent records.
- Support data clean-up initiatives and audits as directed, ensuring records across ERP, CRM, and ancillary platforms are accurate and up to date.
- Assist with data entry standards and help enforce data governance practices across departments.
- Collaborate with the ERP/IT Manager and leadership on data quality improvements that support reporting and operational needs.

Backup & Recovery Management

- Own and execute the organization's backup schedule, ensuring all critical systems and data are backed up reliably and on schedule.
- Perform regular restoration tests to validate backup integrity and confirm that data can be recovered successfully in the event of a system failure.
- Maintain documentation of backup procedures, recovery test results, and any exceptions or incidents.
- Proactively identify gaps or risks in backup coverage and escalate findings.

Project & Program Management

- Coordinate and support technology and data-related projects from initiation through delivery.
- Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, and status updates for relevant initiatives.




- Manage competing priorities and communicate progress and risks to management in a timely manner.
- Assist in the evaluation, scoping, and implementation of new tools or system enhancements.

Innovation & Efficiency Improvement

- Proactively identify opportunities to automate manual reporting processes or improve system workflows.
- Research and recommend emerging tools and technologies that could enhance operational performance.
- Lead or participate in process improvement initiatives, documenting outcomes and learnings.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and best practices across teams.

Strategic Planning & Stakeholder Engagement

- Support senior leadership in developing data strategies and translating strategic goals into measurable outcomes.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to gather requirements, communicate technical solutions, and ensure adoption.
- Participate in planning sessions and contribute analysis that informs business decisions.
- Serve as a trusted resource for data-related questions across departments.

This position supports the organization's operational continuity by ensuring data is clean and trustworthy, systems are well-maintained, and backup and recovery processes are consistently tested and documented.



The role contributes to broader technology and data initiatives as a dependable support resource.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 3–4 years of experience in a systems analyst, IT support, or related role.
- Demonstrated experience with data hygiene, data quality management, or database administration tasks.
- Experience with backup and recovery tools and processes, including performing and documenting restoration tests.
- Experience working with ERP systems and/or CRM platforms is an asset (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, Salesforce).

Technical Skills

- Working knowledge of data management concepts, SQL, and relational database structures.
- Familiarity with backup technologies and disaster recovery principles.
- Understanding of system integration principles and how data flows between business platforms.
- Competency with Microsoft 365, particularly Excel (advanced), and SharePoint.

Work Environment

- Based out of the Sherwood Park / Edmonton area; on-site presence required.
- Occasional travel to company sites or vendor locations may be required.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with shifting priorities and deadlines.
