Term of App't: Monday - Friday (17.5 hours per week)

Salary:
Classification 9 $27.35 – $28.19 per hour in accordance with the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Vacation is pro-rated and front-loaded (approximately 59.50 hours per year). This position also includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves. Competitive extended health and dental advantages available after 910 hours of employment. The College provides paid time off during the annual Christmas closure from December 25 to January 1. This position is subject to a seasonal layoff, with notice typically provided in late June or early July and annual recall in late August or early September. Enrolment in the Municipal Pension Plan is mandatory for employees in this position.
Description:
The Regional Bookstore Retailer is a member of the Fort St John Campus Bookstore supporting bookstore services throughout the NLC region. Key responsibilities include processing textbook orders, receiving and unpacking inventory, stocking shelves and counters, pricing and ticketing merchandise, assisting merchandising display, and providing customer service to bookstore customers. Moderate to heavy lifting is required when handling textbook shipments and inventory.
If you have strong customer service skills and enjoy working in a collaborative team environment, this may be an excellent opportunity for you. The successful candidate will have an interest in serving a diverse customer base that includes faculty, students,
staff, and members of the public.
Schedule: Monday – Friday 10:00 am – 1:30 pm
Qualifications:
Required:
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Experience with point-of-sales system and inventory control.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal communication skills with a keen eye for detail and quality.
- Merchandising and sales experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Ability to perform moderate to heavy lifting (30-40 lbs.) related to shipping and receiving textbook orders.
- Current and valid driver's license.
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
Preferred:
- Retail experience with an interest in using digital tools to reach and engage customers locally and throughout the NLC region.
