Join our dynamic team as a Utility Arborist, where you will play a vital role in maintaining and enhancing the safety, health, and aesthetics of utility corridors and surrounding landscapes. This energetic position involves performing tree trimming, pruning, and removal activities with precision and care, ensuring reliable utility service while preserving the natural environment. You will utilize specialized equipment and techniques to manage vegetation around power lines and infrastructure, contributing to community safety and infrastructure resilience.
Responsibilities
- Operate bucket trucks and other aerial lift equipment safely to access high branches and trees near utility lines.
- Perform pruning, trimming, and removal of trees and vegetation in accordance with industry standards and safety protocols.
- Use rigging techniques to carefully lower large limbs or debris, minimizing impact on surrounding areas.
- Conduct landscape maintenance tasks such as planting, mulching, and general grounds upkeep to support healthy growth.
- Apply Geographic Information System (GIS) technology for mapping and documenting work sites, ensuring accurate records of vegetation management activities.
- Assist with horticultural assessments to identify potential hazards or disease in trees that may affect utility lines or public safety.
- Support the use of bucket trucks and other equipment to reach difficult areas efficiently while adhering to all safety guidelines.
Experience
- Prior experience working as an arborist, utility worker, or in landscape maintenance is preferred.
- Knowledge of rigging techniques for protected handling of heavy limbs or equipment.
- Familiarity with GIS software for mapping and data collection related to vegetation management projects.
- Hands-on experience operating bucket trucks or aerial lifts is highly desirable.
- Understanding of horticultural practices and landscape maintenance principles.
- Strong commitment to safety procedures when working at heights or around electrical infrastructure.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while maintaining a high level of energy and focus.
