The Temiskaming Hospital, located approximately 150 kilometres north of North Bay, is nestled upon the traditional territory of the Algonquin, Anishinaabe and Cree people along the beautiful shores of Lake Temiskaming.

Home to a number of provincial parks, lakes and nature trails and rich in culture and history, the area boasts a diverse population of French, English as well as aboriginal cultures and a work-life balance second to none!

TH offers a wide range of acute and post-acute care including emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, obstetrical, rehabilitation and complex/transitional care and palliative care services. Through regional partnerships and visiting specialists, TH is able to offer a broad range of outpatient services including dialysis and chemotherapy. In addition to the above, the Hospital offers laboratory, diagnostic imaging and mental health and addictions programs.

Reporting to the Lab Manager, the Medical Laboratory Technologist is responsible for conducting advanced laboratory testing to support disease diagnosis, treatment and prevention, In this role, you will work in the areas of transfusion medicine, Hematology and Chemistry while ensuring all work is consistent with accreditation lab standards.





Having a passion for providing excellent patient care in a professional and timely manner is essential to this role. Shifts cover both days and evenings and on-call after hours, 7 days a week. The majority of shifts are 8 hours however, weekend and holidays include 12-hour shifts.

At Temiskaming Hospital we value the contribution of our staff and are proud to offer a number of benefits and services including:

- Competitive Compensation package ($36.84 to $ 50.24 per hour) plus call-back, shift and weekend premiums

- Guarantee of a minimum of 7 shifts in a 2-week period when averaged out over a year.

- Additional compensation as per the OPSEU Collective Agreement (ie: 6% vacation pay and
13% pay in lieu of benefits or the option to purchase employee health and dental benefits)

- Enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP), optional

- Sign-on bonuses are available!

QUALIFICATIONS

- Graduate from an approved course for Medical Laboratory Technologists

- Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists (CMLTO)

Assets: ‍

- Excellent phlebotomy skills

- Bilingual

- Excellent Attendance Record

- Experience in a laboratory hospital setting

- Experience in Meditech LIS
