Job Overview

We are seeking a vigilant and dependable Security Guard to ensure the safety and security of our premises. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring the property, preventing theft or vandalism, and maintaining a secure environment for staff and visitors. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong observation skills, and the ability to respond effectively to security incidents. Prior experience in law enforcement or surveillance is a plus, but training will be provided for all necessary duties.

Duties

- Monitor and control access to the property, ensuring only authorized individuals enter the premises.
- Conduct regular patrols of lobbies, hallways, stairwells, parking garages, mechanical rooms, and other designated areas.
- Maintain a visible security presence to deter theft, vandalism, trespassing, and other criminal activities.
- Identify, assess, and respond appropriately to security incidents, emergencies, and suspicious activities.
- Protect company and client assets by enforcing site policies and security procedures.
- Perform visual inspections of the property to identify safety hazards, security vulnerabilities, or maintenance concerns.
- Monitor surveillance systems, alarms, and access control systems.
- Respond promptly to fire alarms, floods, leaks, power outages, elevator entrapments, and other emergency situations.
- Complete incident reports, daily activity reports, and detailed documentation of observations and occurrences.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, property management, emergency responders, and law enforcement when required.




- Lock and unlock designated access points according to site schedules and procedures.
- Inspect doors, gates, locks, shutters, and access points to ensure they remain secure and free from tampering.
- Investigate and report property damage, safety concerns, and policy violations.
- Verify visitor, contractor, and after-hours access while maintaining accurate records of building entry and exit activities.
- Ensure deliveries, packages, and equipment are directed to the appropriate recipient or designated location.
- Follow company policies, post orders, and standard operating procedures at all times.
- Provide immediate notification of urgent safety concerns and potential risks before they escalate into larger issues.
- Work collaboratively with dispatch, supervisors, and property management teams to maintain site security.

Qualifications

- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence.
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification (preferred).
- Strong observation and report-writing skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation and flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Previous security experience is an asset but not required.
