Parsons Therapy

Canada

Overview

Parsons Therapy is seeking a compassionate, practical and down-to-earth Child and Adolescent Therapist to support children, teens and families in rural and blue-collar communities.

Our clinic was built for people who may not always feel understood by traditional mental health services. We believe therapy should be approachable, honest and useful in everyday life. Our clients often come from families navigating shift work, financial pressure, limited rural resources, and personal family stress.

The ideal therapist understands this demographic and can connect with young people and families in a genuine, respectful and non-judgmental way.

Responsibilities

- Provide developmentally appropriate therapy to children and adolescents
- Assess emotional, behavioural, social and family-related concerns
- Develop practical, individualized and evidence-informed treatment plans
- Support concerns such as anxiety, anger, emotional regulation, ADHD, bullying, grief, trauma, family changes and school stress
- Use approaches such as play-based therapy, CBT, trauma-informed care and family interventions
- Build trusting relationships with children who may be hesitant or uncomfortable talking about mental health
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers while maintaining appropriate confidentiality

- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation
- Participate in supervision and follow all qualified, ethical and privacy requirements

Skills

- Registered and in good standing as an RSW with the OCSWSSW or an RP with the CRPO
- Experience providing therapy to children or adolescents
- Ability to communicate in a clear, relatable and age-appropriate way
- Strong understanding of consent, confidentiality and caregiver involvement when working with minors
- Ability to provide practical strategies that families can use outside of therapy
- Respect for rural, farming, trades, shift-working and working-class families
- Comfortable working with clients who may be skeptical of therapy or unfamiliar with mental health services
- Reliable, qualified and able to manage documentation independently
- Training in play therapy, trauma-informed care, neurodivergence or parent support is considered an asset

Join Parsons Therapy and help make mental health support more accessible, practical and meaningful for rural and blue-collar youth and their families
