What you will do:

Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing, receiving and distributing raw materials and supplies in organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Key Objectives and Accountabilities

- Ensure department focus on material supply to meet production requirements
- Identify and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement as related to quality, competitive differentiation, alternate materials to help improve profitability.
- Focus on reducing material costs, inventory levels and implementing consignment when possible.
- Maintain efficient material placement and flow to reduce manufacturing downtime
- Managing safety stock levels and reorder points.
- Establish inventory policies and stocking strategies.
- Lead cycle count program and annual physical inventories.

Essential Functions

- Responsible for supplier negotiations, purchases, and administrative duties (including contracts) involved in the procurement of all raw materials and shop supplies.
- Sourcing & qualifying new vendors.




- Oversees work orders before sent to production to ensure adherence to engineering specs and bill of materials.
- Reviews planning parameters, open work and purchase orders to ensure constant supply of materials while reducing overall inventory levels.
- Maintains and keeps accurate all material & inventory data inputs in ERP system.
- Continuously address and reduce slow moving and obsolete inventory. Arranges for disposal of surplus materials
- Conducts regular cycle counts, identifies & resolves cycle count issues,
- Organizes & Implements annual physical inventory, identifying & resolving variances.
- Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices.
- Participates in continuous improvement processes as appropriate to support company goals & profitability.
- Identifies and implements opportunities for VMI and Kanban as appropriate.
- Carries out managerial responsibilities in accordance with company policies and applicable law that include safety, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Assists with special projects as required

What we need:

- Post Secondary diploma or degree in related field
- Certified Purchasing Professional designation an asset
- 5-7 years related experience
- Previous buying experience in the sign industry preferred




- Experience with manufacturing processes and machinery, aluminum/steel fabrication and quality systems
- Strong negotiation skills
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills
- Good customer focus
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Computer literacy and proficiency with MS Office
- ERP required
