Program Information:
BGC Charlottetown’s youth programs aim to serve the needs of young people in the community aged 12-18 through a variety of programs aimed at developing technological literacy, life skills and employability, academic programming, and other skills specific programming as planned. This program will provide a sense of community and a secure space for youth in the Charlottetown community.
Job Overview:
The youth engagement coordinator is a dual supervisory and administrative role, reporting to the Program Manager the Youth Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for the daily facilitation of BGC Charlottetown youth programing and for maintaining a safe and fun environment for individuals aged 12-18 through implementing daily activities, communicating with participates and & co-workers and will work to enhance the participants experience by developing and providing new and engaging program experiences as part of the daily schedule. This role will require a successful candidate to be willing to work with a variety of community partners to provide programs in a variety of spaces,
including but not limited to the Charlottetown library and local middle schools in the Charlottetown area.
Responsibilities:
- Be onsite Monday-Friday during scheduled program hours
- Facilitate and guide activities throughout the day
- Provide, schedule and facilitate the planned activities in areas of Arts & Culture, Sports & Recreation, Science & Technology, Cooking, Outdoor Education, Mental health & well-being, and Social Emotional Learning
- Manage budget and allocations of funds for program, office, and administrative needs
- Accurately track all expenses
- Supervise and support a team of program leaders to ensure high quality program delivery
- Assist with daily operations and facility maintenance
- Effectively communicate with staff, supervisors, families, youth and other stakeholders
- Monitor participants throughout program to ensure safety
- Keep detailed logs of member incidents & accidents
- Empower participants to successfully learn and develop life skills to the best of their ability
- Assist in the daily upkeep of the space, equipment and supplies Actively participate in programs and activities

Qualifications:
- Has/can obtain Emergency First aid & CPR certification
- Has/can obtain a Criminal reference & Vulnerable sector check dated within 6 months of start date
- Highschool Diploma or its equivalent
- Individual must be at least 21 years of age
- Experience working with youth (Asset)
- Fluent in French (Asset)
Pay: From $41,000.00 per year
