The TransX Group of Companies has an exciting opportunity for a Dispatch – Level 2 to join the Operations Department in our BC facility. This position is responsible for coordinating day-to-day execution of freight dispatch operations by directing drivers, managing live system updates, and resolving operational disruptions to ensure on-time service delivery across the fleet. The incumbent supports the Operations Manager in workforce planning, route optimization, and cost-effective final-mile pickup and delivery. The Dispatch ensures consistent adherence to safety standards, hours-of-service regulations, and customer service performance targets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Live System Management: Monitor and update driver start times based on realized hours of service. Review geographic workload distribution, manage labor allocation, and ensure driver shifts are accurately updated in the system. Input service alerts and impacted freight data to maintain operational visibility.
- Driver Performance & Communication: Monitor driver productivity against KPIs,
setting clear expectations regarding urgency and customer requirements. Address performance gaps through coaching and documentation, while tracking tractor and driver utilization against productivity targets and flag underperformance.
- Driver Discipline & Compliance: Initiate and document first-level driver discipline in accordance with company policy, maintaining accurate records for HR follow-up and escalating broader issues to the Operations Manager.
- Team Leadership & Supervision: Provide daily direction to direct drivers and indirect interoffice staff, aligning them with operational priorities. Coordinate vacation planning, shift coverage, and workload distribution across the team. Support the onboarding and orientation of new team members, and manage vacation planning, shift coverage, and workload distribution.
- Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Promote and reinforce a protected working environment across the fleet. Communicates standards to drivers, reporting workplace hazards to management, and ensuring driver participation in required safety training and random compliance programs.
- Problem Solving & Operational Response: Resolve operational emergencies, including breakdowns, accidents, and weather-related delays. Make rapid, cost-effective decisions to minimize service disruptions and coordinate recovery efforts with Shop and Safety departments.
- Reporting & Administration: Coordinate driver vacation planning and communicate schedule updates to the Operations Manager. Process add pays accurately, issue daily weather updates during winter operations, follow up on overdue PM services, and perform other administrative duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or a Class 1 driver’s licence required.
- Three (3) to five (5)
years of experience in dispatch.
- Transportation, logistics, or supply chain industry experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of trucking industry regulations, including hours-of-service and DOT requirements.
- Familiarity with US customs regulations and cross-border freight processes.
- Organizational Savvy – must be able to maintain a high level of organization while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in dispatch management systems and general office applications.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and analytical thinking skills with a high tolerance for ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and solve problems under pressure.
