Job Summary and Requirements

This competition is for one (1) Occupational Therapy consultant, working 75 hours/ biweekly.
This is a 12-month term with the possibility of an anticipatory permanence.

As an Occupational Therapy consultant, you will provide a broad range of occupational therapy services to students in the public school system across the Yukon, including consultations, assessments, assistance and support in individualized program development for students, and coaching/training opportunities for educators.



This position also participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team to assist educators, parents, and caregivers in supporting students with special learning needs. Our team also leads an innovative Kindergarten-to-Grade 2 fine motor/printing program, utilizing and supervising OT assistants (OTAs) for universal classroom support (Tier 1), followed by a targeted block of support (Tier 2).

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

- Master’s degree in occupational therapy from a recognized institution
- Registered with an approved college of occupational therapy
- Experience completing standardized OT assessments and recommendations for school-aged youth with difficulties in areas such as fine motor, visual motor, regulation, sensory processing, self-care, activities of daily living and mobility.
- Experience in being part of a multidisciplinary diagnostic team would be an asset.

Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a designated position within the Yukon public service which requires the following condition(s) of employment:

- Security Clearance (Vulnerable Sector Check) prior to starting work;
- A valid driver’s license is required for this position, as it requires providing support to various schools.
