The Role
The Business Development Representative (BDR) is crucial to growing the business. The focus of this role is to generate demand from target accounts and develop qualified sales opportunities through existing account nurturing, referral programs, partner channel development, sales campaigns, marketing and social media programs, email sequencing, cold calling, and managing inbound leads—all designed to create high-value sales opportunities in the pipeline.
The outbound sales process requires reaching out to prospects through cold calls, emails, and social networks, enabling personalised outreach from the first touchpoint. The inbound sales process focuses on prospects who have already expressed interest via the ActiveOps website, phone, email, social media, or information requests, allowing sales reps to make warm or hot outreach.
The Candidate
- Familiarity with sales and marketing enablement tools such as LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, HubSpot, Microsoft Dynamics, and similar platforms
- Ability to understand customer pain points and requirements and align them to the value ActiveOps can deliver
- Strong, professional communication skills—written,
verbal, and presentation
- Aptitude for managing multiple requests and competing priorities while meeting production goals
- Strong sense of urgency in achieving goals and key deliverables
- Ability to act independently without needing direction
- Willingness to bring new ideas and contribute proactively to the business
- Team-oriented mindset, contributing fully without necessarily taking the lead
- Fluency in English required; fluency in French is an asset
- Desire to master the art of selling
- Drive and resilience with a strong competitive mindset
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a distributed sales team
- Strong analytical skills
- Robust presentation skills over phone and Zoom
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and think on the fly
- College degree (BA/BS) or high school diploma with relevant experience
- Previous BDR experience within Financial Services or Insurance is a plus
- This role is fully remote from any location in Canada (Eastern Time hours preferred)

Benefits
- Salary: CAD $60K–$75K plus commission
