- Essential Functions

Assist management in ensuring compliance of The Unemployed Help Centre’s Policies and Procedures.

Responsible for overseeing specific work area setup; including fresh produce sorting line, frozen produce sorting line and emergency food box assembly area.

Foster a welcoming, productive and safe environment where volunteers are treated with respect and feel valued.

Orient and instruct both large groups of volunteers, as well as individuals, incorporating appropriate education to increase awareness of hunger issues.

Formally and informally recognize volunteers and their contributions to the LRFH. Work with the Volunteer coordinator to plan and execute volunteer recognition events.

Represent the LRFH in the community through volunteer project and recruitment presentations.

Competently present the mission of the organization, including the ways we serve the community.

Work closely with location management to ensure safety compliance.

Maintain a clean, neat and orderly work area, and conducts operations in a manner that promotes safety

Work closely with all other staff in ensuring that required operational standards and food safety standards are consistently being met.

Participate in ensuring the proper and safe operation of powered and non-powered warehouse equipment and will regularly operate warehouse equipment in the conduct of his duties.

Maintain cleanliness of all sorting line and repackaging areas, and serve as a material handling lead, which entails ensuring enough usable pallets and bins are available and organized

Perform tasks and complete documentation related to the master cleaning schedule as directed by the Food Rescue Manager

Ensure daily work assignments clearly defined to volunteer team in order to meet production goals.

Serve as a driver to work off-site projects,



shuttle supplies, pick-ups and deliveries.

Load/unload trucks

Attend/work at Windsor or other locations preparing food hampers as required.

Responsible for organizing and executing the work schedule for inbound and outbound shipments

Coordinate daily shipments.

Manage load priority schedule from Donors

Prepare reports and paperwork; corrects discrepancies

Manages receiving paperwork, and posting receipts

Dispatch outbound loads, and complete driver check in/check out

Coordinate yard management, trailer placement, and dock scheduling

Performing daily inventory and related tasks

Maintain accurate count of pallet inventory

All other assigned duties

- Technical/Computer Skills

Proficiency required in the use of Microsoft Office Suite

Capable of learning and independently operating equipment required for the position including but not limited to printer, multi-use copier, fax, and phone system.

- Minimum Requirements, Qualifications, & Experience

High school diploma, 1 year post-secondary or related experience

Warehouse, transportation, or dispatch experience preferred

Forklift experience an asset

Ability to perform minor equipment and building maintenance

Ability to successfully perform all safety processes, dispatch, and functions.

Must possess strong oral/written communication skills

Be detail oriented and have strong interpersonal skills

Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task

Must be comfortable working independently in a quick-paced environment

Problem identification, management, & follow through to resolution

Must have a valid “D” license, vehicle and valuable driving record

Must acquire a certified criminal record and vulnerable sector check from the Royal

Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP)

Pay: $21.94 per hour
