50th Yellowhead – Class 1 Commercial Driver

Position: Class 1 Commercial Driver
Type: Full-time, on-call (55+ hrs/week, 10–13 hr shifts, 8,000–12,000 miles/month)
Pay: Monthly, $0.60-0.70 per mile plus extras (Tarping, Pickups and Drops, Waiting Time, Layovers, Book Resets, etc.)
Bonuses: $500 CAD signing bonus given after 3 consecutive months, Safety bonus awarded every quarter.
Term: 1 year (possible extension)
Location: Northeast Edmonton, AB (weekly travel across Canada & U.S.)
Start: ASAP

Responsibilities

· Freight handling & securement: Load/unload/move freight (80 lb lift, 54 lb force); hook/unhook (90 lb); tarp/strap/chain (100 lb)

· Driving & scheduling: Up to 60 hrs / 3000 miles weekly; weekends; cross-border travel; 36-hr remote resets; 1–2 day backhaul waits; meet strict timelines

· Safety & compliance: Pre/post-trip inspections; adhere to company policies; random drug/alcohol testing; remote monitoring

· Systems & reporting: Use WhatsApp and GoMotive for dispatch, logs, and inspections; report basic mechanical issues

· Operational support: Assist with maintenance, load procurement, and policy development as needed

· Skilled conduct: Maintain safety, transparency, and strong customer service

· Work conditions: Operate in severe weather (< -25°C to > 25°C)





Requirements

· Eligibility: Age 23–50; commute to Edmonton area; personal vehicle

· Licensing: Class 1 (3+ yrs, manual preferred); Alberta Driver Abstract ≤ 6 months

· Experience & record: 3+ yrs commercial driving (Canada/U.S.); ≤ 2 minor violations (3 yrs); ≤ 1 chargeable accident (3 yrs); no major violations (5 yrs)

· Documentation: Canadian passport or U.S. work visa (B-1/B-2); CEFR test if not a citizen

· Screening: Police Check, Vulnerability Sector Check, Drug & Alcohol test; 2 professional references

· Work standards: Non-smoker; compliant with company safety and monitoring policies

· Flat deck and/or step deck

· Load securement (tarping, strapping, chaining)

· GoMotive and WhatsApp

· Heavy machinery repair
