Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm

Overview

Maintain and improve the Systems. Lead the Technicians. Protect Customer Uptime.

Knights of Repair is a mobile heavy equipment service company built around one promise to our customers: Protecting Your Uptime.

We diagnose, maintain, and repair heavy equipment and industrial machinery for customers who depend on reliable equipment and professional service.

We are hiring an experienced heavy equipment technician to serve as Service Manager and technical leader of our field-service team.

This is not a purely administrative service-management position. The successful candidate must have substantial hands-on technical experience and be capable of diagnosing difficult faults, guiding technicians, evaluating workmanship, improving service operations, and earning the technical respect of the team.

The Service Manager will also help build a scalable service department through clear systems, processes, policies, SOPs, checklists, training, documentation, and performance controls.

Why Work With Knights?

Knights of Repair is investing in service vehicles, specialized tooling, diagnostics, systems, marketing, and operational support to build a modern heavy equipment service company.

The final employment package includes:

- Competitive management compensation
- Company vehicle or vehicle allowance
- Health, dental, vision, life, or disability benefits
- Paid vacation, sick days, or personal days
- Scheduled and paid training
- Performance-based bonus opportunities
- Meaningful authority over service operations and technical standards
- Opportunity to help build and lead a growing service department

Responsibilities

- Lead, supervise, coach, train, and support field-service technicians
- Provide technical guidance on complex diagnostics, repairs, inspections, and maintenance
- Perform advanced diagnostics, field support, repairs, or quality-control work when required
- Review technician findings, repair plans, estimates, documentation, and completed work
- Enforce workmanship, safety, documentation, productivity, and professional-conduct standards
- Schedule and assign technicians based on skills, location, availability, urgency, and job complexity
- Maintain control over work orders from intake through completion, quality review, and invoicing
- Communicate findings, recommendations, delays, approvals, and job status to customers
- Coordinate parts requirements, sourcing, delivery, returns, cores, and warranty matters
- Monitor technician utilization, productivity, service quality, turnaround time, rework, and profitability
- Recruit, assess, onboard, train, mentor, and evaluate technicians
- Create, document, implement, and improve service processes, SOPs, policies, checklists, forms, and quality controls
- Train employees on procedures and verify that established systems are followed
- Identify recurring errors, documentation gaps, delays, rework, and process failures
- Identify the primary bottlenecks limiting service capacity, throughput, response time, or profitability
- Distinguish major operational constraints from symptoms and lower-impact inefficiencies

- Prioritize improvements that strengthen the performance of the overall service operation
- Work with ownership to increase capacity, consistency, customer satisfaction, and operational performance

Required Qualifications

- 10 or more years of relevant heavy equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, aerial equipment, commercial vehicle, or industrial machinery experience
- Strong diesel, hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, emissions, and diagnostic knowledge
- Previous experience as a Service Manager, Lead Technician, Shop Foreperson, Working Foreperson, Field Service Supervisor, or comparable technical leadership role
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose difficult faults and guide other technicians through complex repairs
- Experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or training technicians
- Experience developing, documenting, implementing, or improving operational processes
- Ability to create clear SOPs, workflows, checklists, forms, and quality-control standards
- Ability to train employees on procedures and hold them accountable for compliance
- Demonstrated ability to identify operational bottlenecks, diagnose causes of lost capacity, and implement improvements
- Robust written communication, service documentation, organization, and analytical skills
- Competence with diagnostic software, digital work orders, spreadsheets, email, scheduling, and service-management systems
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and acceptable driving record
- Legal authorization to work in Canada
- Patient, respectful, supportive and calm under pressure

Ontario 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician or 310T Truck and Coach Technician certification preferred.

Other assets include mobile field-service leadership, mixed-fleet experience, dealership or rental-fleet experience, OEM diagnostic software knowledge, job costing, warranty administration, process mapping, root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, Lean, and familiarity with the Theory of Constraints.

Formal Theory of Constraints experience is not mandatory. Candidates must, however, demonstrate the ability to identify the most important operational constraint and focus improvement efforts where they will have the greatest effect.

Schedule and Work Conditions

The Service Manager will work across field, office, and management responsibilities.

The role may involve travel to customer yards, construction sites, industrial facilities, farms, municipal sites, roadside locations, and other environments where heavy equipment operates.

Some after-hours availability may be required for urgent technical or operational matters.

Team Standards

Knights of Repair operates under a Team Code of Honour, with humility, collaboration, and integrity as core to the code.

The Service Manager is responsible for modelling and enforcing these standards across the technical team.

Every team member is expected to communicate professionally, take ownership of their work, follow established procedures, contribute to process improvement, raise problems early, maintain accurate records, support coworkers,

protect customer trust, and accept constructive feedback.

Technical ability is essential. Leadership, professionalism, integrity, accountability, discipline, and systems thinking are equally important.

Selected applicants will be asked to complete a structured interview, technical assessment, leadership and systems assessment, reference checks, certification verification, driver’s abstract review, and criminal background check.
