Overview
We are seeking a vigilant and dedicated Security Guard to oversee the safety and security of the Shelter in St. Thomas. This role is vital in maintaining a secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of responsibility, excellent observational skills, and experience in security or law enforcement (not required). Prior experience with surveillance systems and loss prevention is highly desirable. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to community safety while working in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

- Monitor the shelter premises continuously through patrols and surveillance systems, including CCTV.
- Enforce shelter policies and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Conduct regular security checks to identify potential hazards or security breaches.
- Respond promptly to incidents, disturbances, or emergencies, providing appropriate assistance or escalation.




- Maintain detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, and observations for reporting purposes.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
- Prevent theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access through vigilant observation and proactive measures.
- Assist in managing access control by verifying identities and issuing visitor passes as needed.

Qualifications

- Prior experience in law enforcement, security services, or related fields is preferred (not required, we offer comprehensive training).
- Knowledge of surveillance techniques and CCTV operation is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with loss prevention strategies is a plus.
- Robust observational skills with the ability to identify suspicious activity quickly.
- Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with staff, residents, and emergency responders.

Ability to remain calm and professional during stressful situations. This position plays a crucial role in fostering a safe environment at the shelter, ensuring peace of mind for all individuals present.

SHIFT TIMES:

- 8am to 4pm
- 4pm to 12am
- 12am to 8am

Pay: $18.00-$20.00 per hour
